To live together happily ever after, relinquish
all borrowed idealism, the yearning for perfection.
Discover instead the perfect within the imperfect:
just the look on her face as she tends the plants,
or the way he stands gazing into the dusk sky.
How did we lose the pristine innocence
of our child-like wonder at the mere appearance
of anything and everything — perhaps when we began
to complicate life by grasping and rejecting?
Like the artificial borders which divide countries,
our arbitrary judgments of each other obstruct
communion and foster a latent antagonism.
We rarely pause to inspect our conditioned ideas
and expectations about relationship, but instead
automatically project them onto the other,
even as they in turn do likewise.
Two mental and emotional constructs interact
with each other, while the people behind the constructs
remain isolated and distant, never actually meeting.
Just so, one can manage to live an entire life
with another, but never actually know
who or what they truly are.
Two fictional characters in search of a story-line,
a tragicomedy of lovers destined to never find
each other — the audience left in tears.
Sad but true.
when resting in awareness everything which arises is liberated into its own condition. When theres an appearance and theres grasping “samsara” appears, and we try to get out of it with the very grasping or avoiding, its insane how complex a world of superimpositions we create by this transient fantasy. Just stay in the minds natural state and loving and knowing each other fully is just the natural way of living.
