The Mobile Dispatch Unit (MDU) receives calls from the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline or the Regional Crisis Line for individuals in crisis who could benefit from an in-person response 24/7/365.
Individuals experiencing a mental health, substance use, or suicidal crisis should call or text 988 or chat with 988lifeline.org to be connected with trained triage specialists who will assign calls to one of the Mobile Rapid Response Crisis Teams (MRRCT).
Those teams include:
- CHILDREN, YOUTH & FAMILY MOBILE CRISIS (CYFMC) for individuals up to 20 years of age and their families
- MOBILE CRISIS ASSESSMENT & TRIAGE (MCAT) for individuals 21 years of age and older
MDU also triages calls to Designated Crisis Responders (DCRs), who are authorized under the state's Involuntary Treatment Act to evaluate individuals for involuntary psychiatric inpatient treatment if the individual, as a result of a mental disorder, is at risk of harming self, others, others property, and/or are gravely disabled and there are no viable less restrictive alternatives for them to safely remain in the community.
Providers, such as hospitals, first responders, or law enforcement, who are making a referral on behalf of someone in crisis may also contact MDU using a CONFIDENTIAL dedicated line.
To reach the MDU, call 988.
