Dr. Hamady Diop is an expert in agricultural policy and natural resource management in Africa, significantly influencing agriculture policies, fisheries, aquaculture, and the blue economy. He earned his academic foundation in agricultural economics at Louisiana State University and later served as faculty at both LSU and Southern University. His impact grew at the Sub-regional Fisheries Commission in Senegal, where he led key fisheries policy initiatives.

At the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), Dr. Diop held several leadership roles, including Head of Fisheries and Head of Natural Resource Governance, Food Security and Nutrition, as well as Head of Technical Cooperation and Advisory Services.

Currently, he serves as a Senior Advisor to the African Union Special Envoy on Food Systems. He recently completed his role as the African Union Post-Malabo CAADP Process Coordinator, where he collaborated with the African Union Commission to develop the continental policy for the CAADP Kampala agenda, adopted by the African Union Heads of States and Government. Dr. Diop’s commitment to sustainable agricultural development is further demonstrated through his founding of DnS Consulting and contributions to various policies and strategies for continental organizations and African nations. He has collaborated with numerous international organizations and continues to drive positive change in African agriculture.
