If you're new around here, you might wonder who come that
fansofwmc chose
the Teddy Bear Project to support. This is how it all began:
I came to Women's Murder Club from another fandom who has up to now raised over $100,000 in 10 years for charity. Yes, those numbers have me stunned, too. We all know the sad history of ABC's failure regarding to promote Women's Murder Club enough so it could have built a steady fanbase, nevertheless, we tried, with the Kisses Campaign, and when TPTB wouldn't see reason, we sat down to produce the
wmc_vs. Of course, those were things we did for ourselves and the fandom, because we didn't want to let go of these wonderful characters and their stories. If ABC failed them, we'd just do it ourselves.
But in order for a fandom to persist, it needs focus, a profile. It was always a dream of mine to have a charity to support that fits the theme of Women's Murder Club, women being there for each other no matter what, forming a strong network that little by little helps changing the world to the better.
Then!
One google/twitter search led me to learn that Angie Harmon had given her autograph for the Teddy Bear Project. I found this 2 days before the auction ended, and I, who had never before done anything on ebay, was determined to win the little bear. As you can imagine, it did not work. Not so much for the lack of readiness to invest, but mostly for having no ebay skills whatsoever. What I did then was on the one hand, indulge the fan and go hunting for autographs, and donate to the Avon Walk on the other.
If you donate $20, you'll get a photo of your chosen celebrity holding the bear. So far, I got Angie and, since none of the other cast members had taken part so far, Eliza Dushku. I tell you, it's fun to have real people pics of the people we love on our TV!
Go check out Lisa's auctions, and when you donate, mention you found the site via
fansofwmc and send me a copy of your receipt so it'll be counted. (Demeter94@yahoo.de)
Oh, and this morning, I got myself one of the little bears, too.
Do you still hold a grudge against ABC, think that Women's Murder Club should not be forgotten and want to support women in the real world? You know what to do! :)
