I know the anticipation for The Mirror (out November 19) is so high that some people have forgotten that Mind Games, Nora’s summer romantic suspense, is out on May 21.
Here’s the official description:
As they do each June, the Foxes have driven the winding roads of Appalachia to drop off their children for a two-week stay at their grandmother’s. Here, twelve-year-old Thea can run free and breathe in the smells of pine and fresh bread and Grammie’s handmade candles. But as her parents head back to suburban Virginia, they have no idea they’re about to cross paths with a ticking time bomb.
Back in Kentucky, Thea and her grandmother Lucy both awaken from the same nightmare. And though the two have never discussed the special kind of sight they share, they know as soon as their tearful eyes meet that something terrible has happened.
The kids will be staying with Grammie now in Redbud Hollow, and thanks to Thea’s vision, their parents’ killer will spend his life in supermax. Over time, Thea will make friends, build a career, find love. But that ability to see into minds and souls still lurks within her, and though Grammie calls it a gift, it feels more like a curse—because the inmate who shattered her childhood has the same ability. Thea can hear his twisted thoughts and witness his evil acts from miles away. He knows it, and hungers for vengeance. A long, silent battle will be waged between them—and eventually bring them face to face, and head to head…

Of course I’ve not forgotten, Laura! I preordered this one way back on 12/30/23–as soon as I found a listing in Amazon! Never could I forget–I just have to keep telling myself not to keep wishing parts of my life away!
Can’t wait to read this book. The little excerpt had me hooked!
This chapter is already a story on its own – loved it already !! Thanks Nora
Oooh!!
Looking forward to reading it!
I was lucky enough to win an AR copy- it is just wonderful!!!! You will love it!!!
This one sounds quite unique, in the way that only Nora Roberts can write. Should be a good read.
Quick question: for the NR books on audio, who decides which talent will do the performing? Is it Nora, Laura, the publisher, editor, etc.? My reason for asking is – although I’ve read all of them – I have been re-listening to all of the NR books on Audible. And while some of the “performers” are particularly wonderful, others – not so much, So I was just wondering about the selection process.
Anyway, looking forward to May.
I have been reading your wonderful books since your first that came out in 1981. My family knows hoe much I enjoy your works and they have been collected them for me for birthdays and all the holidays from Valentine Easter etc. My husband was the first to start this for me. Since he passed 2 years aho my nieces and nephews have kept up the tradition that started in 1981 the year we were also married. My hometown library keeps your books there too. My neighbors started reading your books more since I sometime lend my copies to them.
I have enjoyed all of the books that I have read and look forward to any new books.
Now the waiting time has arrived, everything I could read via the library I’ve done. Multiple times. Hopefully all the releases will be there soon. This excerpt from Mind Games reminded me of Shelter in Place and truly makes you bound from the first words. Fingers crossed that all releases will be available to the libraries before the new year.
