Mus liver hepatocytes are responsible for metabolism, detoxification, protein synthesis, and bile production. Mouse Liver mast cells, though fewer in number, release histamine, cytokines, and other mediators during immune responses. Both work together during injury or infection.

Swine are the suitable preclinical models for cardiovascular research. Their anatomy and electrophysiological properties are similar to that of the human heart. They are also compatible with surgery and genetic transformation. All these factors promote the in vitro culture of swine cardiac cells including fibroblasts. Swine heart fibroblasts secrete protein to form an extracellular matrix (ECM). This ECM maintains the architecture of the heart. During injury, these fibroblasts trigger the repair pathways and drive cardiac remodeling.
