Roboto Serif 的字重從最細的 100 到最粗的 900 通通有，不僅是在舊的 Roboto 中加入襯線，而是將每個英文字母重新設計，可以說是基於 Roboto 的新創字體。 
Roboto Serif 襯線字體閱讀起來更加容易、閱讀體驗也相對更好。 
Google 使用者體驗經理 Rob Giampietro 表示「新的字體仍然使用與 Roboto Sans 相同的垂直比例，因此 Roboto Serif 混合使用有襯線字體和無襯線版本。
