Britain First and the history of European Nazism

The problem with making historical comparisons is they’re never precise enough to satisfy the pedants and rarely obvious enough to catch the attention of most people. That’s because the majority of us have enough to deal with just coping with the necessities of everyday living. People haven’t time to go around studying political history and most don’t have the inclination to search for comparisons and similarities between modern UK and the worst of European thought.

EBF understands that. We know that to many this article will seem like an over-reaction to current events. But we think it important that we highlight the broad trends of 21st century ideologies even if the exact details differ from the precise events of the past. Modern Europe is very different from that of 80 or 90 years ago. Mass communication is easier and less controlled which accelerates the speed of social change. Deceitful propaganda is more easily spread and ideas, even dangerous ones can take hold of a population like wildfire.

EBF BF Wake up and rise up.pngBut people are still essentially the same. Their fears are the same, their vulnerability to manipulative ideologues is the same and their tendency to look for scapegoats to blame is the same. Our species hasn’t evolved at all in a few decades. We are as we were and what we were was frightening.

In 1920s Germany economic hardship was rife. People were literally starving to death as food became more and more expensive and wages, even for those lucky enough to be employed at all couldn’t keep up. Many felt hopeless and helpless.

In post 2007 Europe whole countries went bankrupt and others, like UK saw the weakest citizens, those suffering from disabling conditions or those who were unable to find work stripped of their incomes, sanctioned by civil servants or forced to work for nothing to ease the wage burden on large companies like Tesco, Asda and even’ the Biffers’ favourite’ – Gregg’s the baker’s. Many argue that this was little more than state-sponsored slavery designed to increase private, corporate profits at the expense of the public purse as several employers cut jobs, replacing paid employees with unskilled, forced (workfare) labour instead. Many at the bottom rungs of society felt hopeless and helpless.

In Post WW1 Germany a group of veterans calling themselves the Frei Corp (Free Army) began releasing propaganda explaining that Germany’s predicament was all the fault of international Jewry. This wasn’t true but it suited the emotional need of some of the people to scapegoat someone other than themselves.

In post-recession UK groups like Britain First began releasing propaganda blaming Muslims for all the country’s problems. This isn’t true either but it suits the emotional need of some of the people to scapegoat someone other than themselves.

In 1920s Germany Adolf Hitler joined a small group of far right nationalists and quickly rose to prominence within what was one day to become the Nazi party.

In 2010 a relatively minor official in the British National Party (a far right nationalist group) broke away from the party to form his own rival group – Britain First.

In 1920s Germany the government largely ignored the Nazis. They were only one of many far right factions and they seemed too busy fighting amongst themselves to be of any significance.

In 2010 the UK government largely ignored Britain First. They were only one of many far right factions and they seemed too busy fighting amongst themselves to be of any significance.

In 1920s Germany Hitler’s Nazi party made very little impact. The demonstrations they held were violent armed conflicts and so the authorities eventually acted. When Hitler tried to begin an armed revolution and held hostage two government officials he was overwhelmed, tried and imprisoned for sedition.

In modern UK, Britain First incites violence against Muslims and immigrants but Golding et al have learned from history and never personally involve themselves in such crimes.

In 1930s Germany the Frei Corp became the Brown Shirts – the organised street fighters who persecuted Jews – their most infamous incident was ‘The night of broken glass’ or ‘Kristalnacht’ during which Jewish homes, businesses and synagogues were attacked in a domestic atrocity ordered by Hitler himself.

In modern UK we have not seen anything on the scale of Kristalnacht yet. We have however seen attacks against Muslim shops, Mosques and businesses, including arson and several Muslim deaths. At least one 81 year old Muslim was beaten to death by Britain First supporters whilst on his way to his local Mosque for morning prayers.

From the 1920s onwards Hitler and his cronies used dehumanising propaganda to isolate and encourage violence against German Jews.

From 2010 onwards Britain First has used dehumanising propaganda to isolate and encourage violence against British Muslims.

EBF BF Nazi dehumanisation

The German Nazis relied upon nationalism and a sense of ‘taking back control’ to fuel their hatred.

Britain First relies upon nationalism and a sense of ‘taking back control’ to fuel its hatred.

BBC3 BF WWOCB Title page

The internet and the speed with which social media spreads ideas around means that the popular nationalism that took the Nazis 15 years to achieve has taken Britain First with its social media savvy operation a third of that time. What they lack is political clout but there’s time for that and they’re certainly trying hard.

And it’s not just Britain First. There are other, equally disturbing groups at work in the UK. Nationalists organisations echo the same message of hate. Groups like the English Defence League and countless others also rely upon the same propaganda to fuel a nationalism that seems hell bent on taking this country back to a past that only really existed in their imaginations. Respectable political groups like UKIP seem almost to legitimise the nationalist agenda and may well be the key to political influence for all the other nationalist groups.

Brexit send them back T shirt

It’s no coincidence that ‘Vote UKIP’ is a common refrain from the racist nationalists we interact with across social media. Britain First is unlikely to gain any political power but that doesn’t mean they can’t support UKIP. Golding and Fransen have already created something like a Frei Corp in waiting. Their own website describes Britain First as a ‘Street defence organisation’ and their regular calls for civil war against Muslims and their (admittedly laughable as yet) attempts to train their members in combat skills seems to point very clearly in one particular direction. Might they become UKIP’s Brown shirts in time?

EBF BF fight club

If the problem was only UK based that might be less of a concern but similair trends can be seen across Europe. Some countries are further along this dark path and it’s not hard to see where we’re all being driven. This week in Austria a far right party using the slogan ‘Austria First’ (there’s a coincidence) narrowly failed to become the ruling political party in the country’s national election.

EBF BF Austria far right Nazi election.pngIn the style of their Austrian predecessor, Adolf Hitler they are now forcing a new election. Hitler’s Nazi party also forced elections until they got the result they wanted. We’d hoped that Austrians would know better, given their country’s part in WW2 but seemingly not. Like Brits and many other European nationals they have short memories. It remains to be seen how prophetic the result of the UK’s recent ‘Brexit’ referendum may be. The result (48% v 52%) is strikingly close to the Austrian result after a campaign that was fought much more along nationalist and racist lines than any other issue. We believe that there is very real cause for concern both here in the UK and abroad.

Holland, a country defeated by the Nazis and subjected to all the horrors of occupation is currently seeing the rise of its own brand of Nationalism. Even Germany, the birthplace of Pegida has a growing number of fascists within its population. Similair stories can be told about many Western nations from Scandinavia to the Mediterranean. The far right hasn’t won yet but it’s making remarkably good headway.

There’s still time to turn this around. Please help us to spread the word and stop the neo-Nazis from dragging us back into the darkness of former decades.

Britain First: A grown up political party?

In the wake of unprecedented numbers of attacks on ethnic minorities, their persons and their property, representatives of all the major political parties have issued statements of condemnation. Even UKIP, small though the party is has joined the chorus of voices expressing shock and horror as the violence against British minorities escalates. This is the grown up thing to do.

Don’t waste your time waiting for BF to make any similar statements though. That’s not what they’re about at all. Having spent 5 years inciting racial and religious hatred they’re hardly likely to condemn it now. Instead the Biffers’ reaction to these appalling events was to publish this.

BF Islam lives freedom dies memeOn Tuesday the news broke about a petrol bomb attack on a halal butcher in Walsall. It’s important not to misunderstand this attack. The homemade bomb was not just thrown into the premises – it was thrown directly at the butcher himself. Fortunately it bounced off him before smashing on the floor, causing extensive fire damage to the building. Had it smashed against the man it was deliberately thrown at he would have been covered in accelerant and burned alive.

Walsall halal butcher arson petrol bomb brexit

This was attempted murder. Once again the British far right inflicts serious violence on an innocent citizen going about his normal, lawful business.

If ever there was a time for us all to cry “Not in my name”, that time is now!

Not in my name!

Not in our name!

Not in the name of this wonderful country!

Not in the name of human decency!

Not in the name of anything worth having.

Britain First must take some responsibility for inciting the wave of hate crime currently terrorising many British citizens. They deliberately and cynically misled their followers, whipping them up into murderous rage by falsely promising them that all their fears would be assuaged by a vote to leave Europe. It’s no surprise that the sense of frustration those ‘footsoldiers’ now feel is being directed at the people whom Paul and Jayda have been scapegoating for half a decade.

We call upon Britain First to join the proper political parties of UK in condemning these outrageous attacks on innocent citizens…

We’re waiting…

Wear a safety pin

This is brilliant!

Yesterday we posted a number of T-shirt suggestions to reassure ethnic minorities that we’re not all racist. But forget that – this is better. It’s easier, it’s more permanent (you don’t need to keep washing it) and it can be distributed around your friends for just pennies.

Wear a safety pin to show that you’re safe. Get it – a SAFETY pin. Let the whole of the country know that you’re not going to abuse ethnic minorities. Let the world know that you’re not racist. Let your neighbours know that you’re safe!

Time to make a stand

Ever since the UK voted to leave the European Union, racists and nationalists have wrongly assumed that they have a mandate to abuse ethnic Brits. We don’t believe this is true. We don’t think that most Leave voters did so because of racism or aggressive nationalism. But unfortunately ethnic minorities living in Britain have a hard time knowing which Brits accept them as valuable members of our society and which are hostile. This is understandably frightening. When anyone could be a threat everyone is threatening.

So we have a suggestion.

The images below are easy to download. Why not choose one, take it to your local printer and get it transferred onto a T-shirt or sweatshirt? Why not have it printed on a mug to use at work or maybe a cap? Anywhere you like really.

EBF Not racist transfer 5

The idea is to show our fellow citizens in clear, uncompromising terms that we are not a threat. Let’s fill Britain with reassurances for those who need them most right now.

EBF Not in my name transfer 5

It doesn’t matter how you voted in the referendum. We know that was about many issues that seem to have passed the racist minority by completely. This is about reclaiming our society for the tolerant majority of Brits and extending the hand of friendship and acceptance to all.

It’s time to make a stand and show the far right that they cannot win!

After Brexit – In whose name?

People keep telling us they voted ‘Leave’ but they’re not racist. Yes we know. We actually have a couple of non-racist Brexiters in team EBF. One or two others wavered right up until polling day. We know that lots of people voted to leave the EU for motives that have nothing at all to do with racism.

Brexit reparation demo newcastle

But we also know that many did vote to leave the EU because of racist views. Others did so because of an aggressive nationalism that, whilst not necessarily rooted in ideas of skin colour or racial origin still devalue the rights and contributions of ethnic Brits. That’s not everyone who voted to leave but it is a sizeable proportion.

So why are we still banging on about race when we know it wasn’t the deciding factor for so many Brexit voters?

The answer to that is simple…

Brexit send them back T shirt

Since the decision to leave the EU was announced racist attacks and abusive incidents have increased substantially. Emboldened by the ‘Leave’ result many racists and aggressive nationalists (we know not all nationalists are aggressive, by the way) now mistakenly believe that they have the support of over half the population. They think they have a mandate from the British people to persecute ethnic Brits and some of the incidents over the last few days have been pretty vile.

We have been told of abuse and/or assaults against Poles, Muslims, Jews, Sikhs, Hindus, Italians, Romanians and pretty well anyone who doesn’t fit the white British stereotype. Not that we’re surprised. We suspected that this would happen. Emboldened by a Brexit victory (that actually has little to do with race or religion in practice) the worst of our society has become even more aggressive and hostile.

Brexit Polish vermin sign

So to those Brexiters who insist that they’re not racist and that they’re not aggressive the time has come to stand up and be counted. If you disagree with the persecution of minorities. If you don’t support the far right’s call for enforced repatriation of people who may well have been born in this country anyway. If you object to the antics of your fellow citizens who seem to mistake 21st century UK for early 20th century Germany then now is the time to stand up and say so. Repeat after us…

“Not in my name!”

We’ll end this post with the famous words of Edmund Burke. We think they’re very applicable to the current situation here in UK.

“All that is necessary for evil to triumph Is that good men do nothing.”

An open letter to Britain First by Kit

Reuters Jo Cox MemorialI can completely understand why there is so much anger directed towards you, Britain First at the suggestion your party could be implicated in such a brutal murder. It is a perfectly reasonable assumption for most people that your poisonous ideology could have consumed a person to such an extent, it’s led to loss of life. But whether you are indirectly involved or not, you need to take a look at WHY people have made assumptions about you.

Britain First, this should be a wake up call for you. The reason so many people jumped to conclusions is because of the hate and lies you swamp social media with every single day. You use vile and threatening language towards your opposition. You have threatened to hang people you label ‘traitors’. You have described MP’s as ‘creatures’ and you have threatened some of them with ‘direct action’. You post up publicity stunts where you deliberately provoke communities and start the camera rolling when you get a reaction.

You deliberately mislead your followers by posting videos without source, context or dates and you delete comments pointing out the facts. You have created an echo chamber by deleting dissent but leave up disgusting, hateful and often threatening comments. You use military terms such as “foot soldiers” to describe members of your political party and wear uniform. You’ve videoed yourselves attending an “activist training camp” and you have begged for donations to set up fight clubs. You use terms such as “rise up”, “fight back” and post hundreds of images relating to war. You are encouraging violence!

You can no longer try to distance yourselves from assumptions people make about your organisation. You cannot escape the depth of feeling people have towards you. You cannot blame anyone other than yourselves for the assumptions people are making. You may or may not have blood on your hands this time but it’s only a matter a time before you do.

Stop the propaganda, stop the lies and stop the hate. Most importantly, you need to accept responsibility for your actions and change now.

Beer 2They say a week is a long time in a Landlord’s life (or is it politics I get confused). The end of the footie season brings it’s challenges as the men are dragged round a DIY shop or have to mow the lawn and the laydees decide that outside eating should be the order of the night instead of a nice beer garden. I’ve also cut down two trees, with an axe no less, without ending up in A&E. I called them Screechy and Goldibollocks and thoroughly enjoyed the stress relief that smacking the bejeezus out of them gave.

It’s been a bit of a bad week for them on the reporting front. The photoshopped picture of Owen Jones about why he will vote for Europe was widely ridiculed on twitter and on Facebook. Their bible passages get more and more obscure and the new ISIS hunter clothing looks more photoshopped each time you look at it. The only thing they could hunt is a Pint and a kebab on a Friday night (not at my pub I may add).

On to the more sinister..

Immediately an event occurs Screechy, Goldibollocks and their high command publish the story and make sure it’s heavily intimated as a terror attack. Firstly a “massive” explosion outside the ITV studio’s lapped up by the biffers disciples as a terror attack. When it turned out to be a controlled explosion on a car whose owner decided parking restrictions weren’t for him, did they report this? Did they buggery. They let their devoted sheep continue thinking it was a terror attack.

Someone broke into Buck Palace. Terrorism according to their page and once again this was lapped up. When it then turned out to be a mental patient who was let out early with a decidedly English name, did they report this? Nope – the damage had been done and the Muslims had been blamed.

On to the stabbings in Hampton. Again heavily biased islamophobic overtones. Once again they jump on the bandwagon, once again, after the truth came out that it was a mentally disturbed man with no Islamic background, did they retract, did their sheeple suddenly change their minds?Nope again. They let their islamophobic followers fire off comment after comment that civil war is coming.

Finally the Egyptair crash which Nemesis wrote so eloquently about on Thursday. No official indications of whether this was a tragic accident or a terror attack. Experts from all over were called by the media to speculate, pontificate and send out reports of what other media was reporting. It was a terror attack said Egyptair before the blackbox was even found (usually this is done for insurance reasons). Now it transpires it’s gone from 100% terror attack to a 20% possibility. I may wait for the official verdict rather than scream Islamic Terror attack. I think I speak on behalf of EBF when I say our thoughts and prayers (for those of us who do) are with the victims’ families. But if it comes out that it is a tragic accident then will we see a retraction from the biffers? I won’t hold my breath.

Finally, some mirth, Election fever is over, there were embarrassed faces all round in the Fuhrer bunker and probably a meeting of the high command that goes something like this.

“How can we fleece more money out of the idiot followers?”

The answer falls right into their laps… the EU referendum. and another begging Email, this time for £21000 to get us out of Europe. The Email, on the page, tells more lies than truths and they think that their 1.4 million followers on the page will vote to leave. Trouble is only about 500000 of their followers are eligible to vote, but this won’t stop them. £21k for something the leave campaign have already spent millions on. There is a whiff of male bovine excretia. Now I’m not overly political nor do I know much about the inner workings of the European Union. Here at EBF we have a broad spectrum of political beliefs and would never try to overly politicise the page (although others may have in the past). all I would say on the matter is that the Leave campaign need to convince me I will be better off out of Europe not the other way round. However Brexit may suffer as I certainly won’t want to be tied to a campaign that the biffers now are openly campaigning for.

So that’s it for the week, now to find a BBQ to gatecrash, and more trees to chop down (Lomax, Lewis and Blunn are the names of the next 3).

Cheers,

Landlord

Beer 2A week of mirth and watching the Biffers implode into themselves. Screechy and Goldibollocks have become more deranged and desperate each day as they delete memes about the victor in the Mayoral election to…

  1. a) make themselves look less like cry babies and
  2. b) as moley intimated, to stave off any possible litigation against them.

This week, with the warm weather I held an impromptu BBQ/housewarming party. Nazeer from next door and his wife and his kids came over, so to did  Purav, a Sikh from just down the road, a couple of bald headed, tattooed Englishmen and my mate with Jamaican roots. I managed to purloin some stock (well a lovely barrel of Champion Gold and ‘some Babycham for the Laydees’). You know what, we had a lovely time, brilliant conversation, great food, Halal of course prepared by Naz’s wife…I was making a pigs ear of it so she took over, well in fact told me to “bugger off, you’re useless just like my husband” (so much for the subservient sex in Islam).

The Landlady unfortunately found my expensive wine collection, £7 a pop instead of the £3.99, and everyone drifted home happy, no arguments, no conversion, and apart from a stinging hangover I still had my head. New friends for life. The main thing we agreed with was the joke that is Britain First and the EDL. Although I think at least one of them reads EBF and may have worked out my alter ego.(They will do now).

Now with the election done and dusted the new mayor is now in. What is next for the Biffers? Well they have started a recruitment campaign. For just £2 a month you to could join the ranks of the twats! A free newspaper and a membership card are both thrown in. Whoopee! Here’s my bank details Goldibollocks.

Our favourite biffer, he who loves Greggs, sent out a tearful battlecry to the other spunktrumpets of the far right to come together and fight the rising tide of Islam. Sorry Mr L, the EDL, Casuals, Infidels, NF, National Action and Pie and Mash hate you as much as they hate each other. The chances of any of you uniting really is very, very slim. Even if you did, what would you get on the ground for marches? 200 tops!

Two different marches last week showed just how much the far right is supported. 20 in Portsmouth and 24 in Burton for “massive” days of action proves they really just have a social media presence and not enough on the street to fill a coach!

What’s next for the biffers? Some more mosque invasions, Halal slaughterhouse invasions, cowardly attacks on people on bail. This now “mainstream political party” will probably find something to do and we will be there, with your support to debunk, harass, shout shouty things at their demo’s and report posts to various bodies (although facebook is a bit of a longshot).

Now you’ll have to excuse me, Naz and Purav have invited me to another evening out, I might get out of it alive or at least with another hangover.

Beer 2The votes had been cast, the Fuhrer conceded defeat early (in yet another tiresome video) and we sat on the edges of our seats wondering how many votes they’d manage to get. And I decided I’d write a letter to Goldibollocks and Screechy to ask them some questions…

Dear Goldibollocks and Screechy,

Many thanks from the Admins and followers of Exposing Britain First for your comedy series over the last few weeks since you decided to stand for the London Mayor and the Assembly. I noted that you said that you had put forward your family as candidates but upon checking the results I can see no mention of Britain First outside you and the Fuhress. What happened Chumley? Did they disappear behind the sofa? Were they buried underneath a patio? Did the nasty election people not print their names on the voting slip???? I’m sure your loyal disciples would love to know.

EBF and I would also love to see where the money you conned out of your sheep went. We are waiting (with a forensic accountant) to see your accounts, when Stevie gets a new ribbon for his typewriter, that are forwarded to the Election Commission. What will they show? More importantly, what will they hide? I can understand where some of the money went but ‘Operation Lionheart’? A hard hitting video on social media for £2500? I think you need to sack your minister of propaganda. Just remember, if you don’t publish them properly Old Moley will find a way to get them to us (if that doesn’t work we could always make some up and pass them off as yours no one would know the difference between one work of fiction and another).

BF Whitechapel mosque 1st march 2016 FransenI take it you now realise that the people don’t support your “party” in any numbers and are utterly fed up of your “operations” like the Slaughterhouse debacle, the ELM marathon, the Sharia COUNCIL raid. They make you look stupid in the eyes of the media and the people (and they make us laugh at you). The police are slowly catching up with your high command. Your activists, all 20 of them, are banned from most places.

So from us to you, give it up, pocket the cash you have fleeced from your members, stolen from armed forces charities and go away. The silent majority in this country don’t like you, don’t like what you stand for, find your whole Christian Zealot, racist, Islamaphobic rhetoric disgusting and nothing is going to change their minds. This majority has put up with you and your fellow Islamaphobes, you know the ones that hate you as much as they hate the Muslims, for long enough. Why do you think all us unwashed, traitorous lefties, Muslim appeasers and Muslims all come out on your strolls to shout at you? We always get more than your numbers even though you tell you American friends you have faaaasands there. So go on do us all a favour, tell your 800000 real followers (600000 in the UK) that you are packing it in, then we’ll do the same. I might get some time to spend with my family, stop having to watch your videos and suffer Screechy’s screeching.

Finally I do thank you for one thing. Being an Admin at EBF has let me meet and talk to some amazing people all dedicated to your downfall both on the page and the admins. I don’t believe you will jack it in but it would be nice. If you don’t, you won’t be lonely. We’ll be here to keep you company.

Yours forever in hope (book of Landlord 10:13)
