The Simcoe County Forest expands more than 34,000 acres with over 720 km of recreational trails creating scenic trail systems for all walks of life. Simcoe County also features over 110km of the Trans Canada Trail as well as the Ganaraska Trail and Bruce Trail.

Looking to explore Simcoe County’s trails by bike? There are many multi-use trails across the region, including the 160km Simcoe County Loop Trail, that are a cyclist’s dream!

If you’re looking for a hiking adventure with picturesque views, get your heart rate pumping through the Nottawasaga Bluffs exploring limestone rocks and caves of the Niagara Escarpment, or Collingwood trails overlooking the Oxbow Sand Dunes.

Waterfront Trails

Simcoe County’s popular waterways can be explored by paddle but also appreciated by waterfront trail systems along lakes, rivers, and wetlands. Feel the breeze off Georgian Bay, Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching on trail systems near charming downtowns to shop and dine. Hike alongside winding rivers and creeks that make up Simcoe County’s water systems. Set out on a boardwalk through wetlands at places like Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre where you can immerse yourself in the natural habitats of local wildlife, hear birdsongs, and watch amphibians splash on lily pads.

Hike and Stay

Campgrounds throughout Simcoe County offer family-friendly interpretive trails for a great day of hiking before settling down by the campfire under the stars! Many parks also offer day-passes for visitors to experience on-site trails.

EXPERIENCE SIMCOE COUNTY TRAILS

Simcoe County Forest Trails Permitted Activities:
Simcoe County Forest Trails permit walking, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding in summer months as well as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter months. The trails are also used for geocaching, orienteering, nature appreciation and study.
Dog-walking: Pets must be under control or on a leash at all times
Off-road vehicles: Off-road moto​rized trails are open between May 1st-November 30th. Operators must be on designated trails with applicable club permits and following all legal requirements.
Hunting: As per provincial hunting regulations, hunters require OFAH membership.
