* Also, Ordinance No. 2025-31 requires that effective April 1, 2026, a driver with a placard or handicap license plate must pay the appropriate amount of money in the kiosk. If the vehicle will occupy the parking space for more than the maximum amount of time permitted by the kiosk, the driver must pay the maximum.

Bayfront Free Parking

FREE PARKING in the Sumner Avenue Lot at the entrance to town. It is adjacent to the merry go round horse monument and is an approximately three block walk to the boardwalk and beach from the lot. (overnight parking is not permitted.)

EMPLOYEES OF SEASIDE HEIGHTS BUSINESSES are encouraged to park in the free parking lot at the Grant Avenue entrance to town.

Disabled Parking

Any individual with a valid handicap placard or plates that parks in a designated public handicap parking space is not required to pay.

If an individual with a valid handicap placard or plates parks in a parking space that is not a designated public handicap parking space, the individual must pay to park. In situations where the individual anticipates parking longer than the maximum time the kiosk allows, the individual must pay the maximum time (e.g., if it’s a 12-hour parking space, pay for 12 hours). The individual can park for up to 24 hours without paying the kiosk again, provided the individual initially paid the maximum time. The vehicle must vacate the space after 24 hours.

A person who is a disabled veteran or a recipient of the Purple Heart is exempt from the payment of municipal parking kiosk charges when a motor vehicle owned by the disabled veteran or the Purple Heart recipient displays disabled veteran’s or Purple Heart license plates or a placard issued by the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission pursuant to the provisions of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes, unless the vehicle has been parked in one location for more than 24 hours. The exemption provided under this subsection shall apply only when the disabled veteran or recipient of the Purple Heart to whom the special license plates or placards have been issued is either the driver, or a passenger, of the vehicle.  Seaside Heights provides several parking spaces near the Boardwalk designated specifically for Purple Heart recipients. However, Purple Heart recipients may park in any metered space in Seaside Heights for up to 24 hours.

Further information for people with disabilities may be found HERE.
