when I said I wouldn't be crossposting/posting again. I'm directly posting now, and I'm only do so because I've decided to do something somewhat more drastic than merely going inactive on LJ.
I'm not going to delete my account. I was Evilawyer before anyone else ever even thought up the name, and I know some have since because I get e-mails meant for other Evilawyers elsewhere; I'm not going to abandon the name here so someone else can come snag it, which is silly and childish of me, I know, but I am what I am and I'm too set in my ways to bother changing. However, while I want to leave a sign that I passed this way, I don't want to leave the impression that I'll be coming through again. I won't be. LJ has caused itself problems with each “improvement” it's ever instituted and each change of ownership it's gone through, and I've been dismayed over what I call the LJ Mentality (although, to be fair, that has more to do with me getting to be a cranky old lady who yells at adolescents to play nice, pick up their trash and focus on making something of themselves than it does with any business decision LJ has ever made) for years now, but LJ was still a place I could come to for the reason I came in the first place --- to interact with mature and wise people over the crappy bits and fun parts of life who I would never meet in real life but wished I could. That was enough for a long time, but the negative changes in LJ have had a cumulative effect. I've finally reached the point where the benefits don't outweigh the downsides, and I am no longer willing to be counted in LJ's social interactivity scale rating or whatever it's called. I am no longer willing to be treated like a statistic, even though I fully know that's all I've ever been.
So. I'm not deleting my journal, but I am leaving a blank slate where my profile page used to be in addition to never posting to LJ again. Unfortunately, this means I have to defriend everyone on my FL. I already did this on my LJ fic journal and got an e-mail from someone there worried about having offended me somehow. I'm posting this last post in advance of wiping my FL so that everyone on it who reads this knows that it has nothing to do with them and I mean no offense.
To those of you who have me on your FLs, I ask the following favor:
Please help me fade into the LJ shadows by removing me from your FL so I don't show up on your profile page here.
My thanks to you all for keeping me engaged over the time we've known each other here on LJ. I hope to see you in other places in future.
Lastly, I know that I will never see some of you again. I just want you to know that my head and my heart will miss you.

03:25 pm - Thought this might be of interest.
LJ is moving everything to Russia. Perhaps more importantly, it is planning changes that will effect the appearance of Friends Pages -- they will be on infinite scroll and will not show up on users screens in the users' selected formats.
More information is here. Please keep in mind that page is not an LJ community; it's someone who's kind enough to translate the official LJ posts that are written in Russian in to English.

07:42 pm - Is LJ Giving Anyone Else Trouble?
Tried to go post a birthday wish on my backup fic journal. First LJ just kept showing me the "Post an Entry" screen after I posted, then it told me that I entered the wrong password too many times. Now it's told me that my entry was successfully posted but I don't see it.
Anyone else having weirdness from LJ today?
ETA: Now I can see it, but only from this account. WTF?

12:37 am - Has LJ Been Improving Again?
It seems to me that LJ has been making it harder to respond to comments from e-mail of late. And I mean really hard. Way beyond "You've exceeded the character limit." I didn't like it when it started logging me in when I answered from e-mail. Now it's requirnsending me into an eternal loop when I answer from e-mail. This impacts me since I get and respond to comments from my e-mail and not via LJ itself because I only log into LJ maybe once every week to ten days at this point.
I'm over at Dreamwidth more now for my actual posting, but this new hassle will probably make me comment less to LJ entries from my e-mail unless it's a two word response. So if you get really, really late replies to comments to my comments, it's all LJ's fault.
