A Day That Will Stay With Us: New Life VillageSome days remind you exactly why this work matters. Yesterday was one of them.We had the privilege of visiting New Life Village, a place where some of the most resilient, joyful children you will ever meet are growing up in foster care or have had some kind of trauma and experienced more than any child should have to face. And yesterday, they were learning to swim.Alan and Mindy of Hudson Valley Swim School opened the door for us, introducing our team to a community doing one of the most loving things imaginable for the children in their care: making sure they have the chance to feel safe and confident in the water. Coach Andrienna was in the pool with the kids enrolled in camp, patient and encouraging with every single one of them, and watching her work was a gift in itself. The Florida sun was doing its best to melt all of us. It did not stand a chance against those smiles.Every splash, every nervous-turned-triumphant kick, every kid throwing their arms up after finally floating on their own, it was pure magic. These children have been through so much, and yet they showed up with open hearts, big laughs, and total trust. They brightened our whole day. This is exactly why Every Child A Swimmer exists. Every child deserves the chance to learn this life-saving skill, no matter their story or circumstance. Yesterday, New Life Village and Hudson Valley Swim School reminded us why we do this work, and why we will keep showing up for kids like these.Thank you, Alan, Mindy, Coach Andrienna, and every beautiful child who let us be part of your day. You gave us so much more than we could ever give you. ... See MoreSee Less
