Speaker

Captain Philip Bacon

Vice-President of Operations, Siem Shipping Ltd

Captain Philip Bacon is a seafarer turned shipbroker, turned arbitrator. Following early Naval training, a career at sea covered chemical and gas tankers and some general cargo, after which Philip came ashore with Shell.

Working ashore for blue-chip shipowners included Shell, K-Line, Gearbulk, the Kristian Gerard Jebsen group, AM Nomikos and Siem Shipping. During these 40 years Philip was involved in all segments of shipping from tankers to dry bulk, containers and car carriers to RoRo, offshore and subsea to reefers.

Eighteen years of those were with Gearbulk, today G2Ocean, the world's largest operator of breakbulk or "neobulk" cargoes. In the last decade, whilst very active as an Expert Witness, Philip has undertaken the CIArb qualifications and started practising as an Arbitrator under LMAA terms.
