Dear Santa!
As usual, as ever, let me paraphrase what I say every year:
Firstly, THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE ME SOMETHING. This is by far the worst time of year at my job, which makes me doubly appreciative that you are taking the time to create something just for me. Please be assured that if we have matched on one of the fandoms that I have requested, you will write me something that I will love. Write a story that you enjoy writing and I will be thrilled to receive it. I am going to do a lot of rambling in this letter, but optional details are optional and I promise that you I will love anything you write for me. Feel free to ignore everything and anything here - mostly, what I want to say to you is have fun. Write a story that you love and I am sure that I will love it too.
That said, my weaknesses are many and legion. Among them are (and this is exactly the same list as i always leave):
Angst (but reasonably explained and not for the sake of it) and I like it if everything works out in the end - or, at least, if I can see the possibly of a happy ending (not necessarily for everyone); redemptive endings (not necessarily for everybody); missing moments from canon; unrequited love (but not forever); myths (in all their forms); stories within stories and, indeed, structural cleverness of all kinds; backstories and stories that go beyond the reach of canon in either direction; romance (but only in character); journeys to places that are far or near; things that span a lot of time - arcs as it were; banter during sex; good funny; well researched, elaborate AUs; worldbuilding; conversations; trains and ships; in character kink...
and so on.
Basically, I am easy to please if there's a heart in it ♥
Black Sails (Anny Bonny, Jack Rackham, Fint, Thomas Hamilton).
Full disclosure: I just love pirates. I really do. This show is one of my favourite things on TV. I love the lushness of the world-building, the moral ambiguity of the characters. One of my very few criticisms of this show is that I don't think they're doing enough with Anne Bonny. Anne is one of my favourite historical people and I would love - love - a story set after Black Sails canon when everything falls apart for them. Historical record has it that Anne Bonny disappeared without trace. Where did she go? Where did she end up? What became of everything she was? I also love the hints of Jack and Anne as a quiet but somehow epic love story. An exploration of that would be wonderful, but so would an exploration of either of them as individuals. The same very much goes for Flint or Hamilton although, what I'm mostly interested there is the journey that Flint came on, how he became the man that he became, how he would rather burn the world than live with it. Character. Get inside their heads for me for a little while and I will adore it.
Sense8
Any story you write for me in this fandom would be perfect. Any of the sensates, any combination, any scenario, before canon, after canon, a missing moment. I can't overstate how truly I mean anything. Anything would be perfect. Things that I love about the show: how Wolfgang manages to be both dangerous and vulnerable, how clever Nomi is, Kala and Capheus' heart, Sun's slowly realised self-awakening. I'd love to know more about Riley. Will is just so good. Lito and Hernando. AHHHH. Seriously. Write from your heart. I'll love it.
The Mazerunner (Newt, Thomas, Minho)
Newt. Basically. Just Newt. I would love something about Newt. An AU where the inevitable doesn't happen. A moment that slots within canon. Ship. Gen. An exploration of what brought him to his suicide attempt. ANYTHING about these boys and how they made a world together. I was also heartbroken that Alby wasn't listed in the character list for the movie, so if you can get him in, I would love that!
Whitechapel (Emerson Kent, Joseph Chandler)
If you were to pick one character that I wanted to know more about, post season 4, it would absolutely be darling Emerson Kent. I was so fascinated by his plot in season 4 (and, you know, terrified for his well-being). I'd love a story about his relationship with his sister - why was he so bothered about her going out with Mansell? What does he want out of life? I would be super happy with a case fic or with a character study or something shippy. I have a theory that Joe Chandler is a fallen angel. Really, this fandom offers numerous, legitimate opportunities to go nuts. Have fun XD
Hellblazer (John Constantine)
John. John John John. If this is the canon we've matched on then you could write anything about this mortal bastard and I would be extremely happy. A moment when his life intersected with another canon would be amazing - I loved his appearence in The Sandman, and I think he'd fit amazingly well into the American Gods universe, but I could see him turning up just about anywhere. I did watch the NBC show, too, so if you want to inform comic characterisation with aspects from there, I would be totally into it.
Rivers of London
Same request as last year!
I love these books. I love Peter and his relationship with Leslie, his relationship with Beverly. I love the way he is around women, the way he is around his mother, the way his about magic. Peter Grant is one of those characters that I can proudly label as 'mine' and I love him for it. I find him to be at utterly relatable, believable character and I love that about him. I would love anything about Peter, set during any of the books (the first one is still my favourite, but I love all of them). Peter and the Rivers is probably my favourite part of the books. I love that he manages to still quite fancy Leslie. I love that he loves being a copper and is a little bit crap at magic. I love that he loves London, strange as it is.
ALTERNATIVELY, I also would love a story about Nightingale at Ettersburg. Or in his youth. Anything about Nightingale's backstory would be excellent. Or something that stitches together the few slight things we know about Molly and how she came to be so integral to the Folly.
For reference, I think the idea of Peter/Nightingale is lovely and, if you wanted to write that, I'd be very pleased. I would be equally pleased by any het pairing for Peter - I particularly love Beverly. I am open to any scenario that involves Peter Grant naked.
