Rauw Alejandro, is a Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, and actor. Known as the “King of Modern Reggaeton,” he belongs to a new generation of Puerto Rican urban musicians, with a music style including Latin R&B, reggaeton, rhythmic pop, and ballads. He is also known as El Zorro and Rauleeto.
Rauw was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to guitarist Raúl Ocasio and backing vocalist María Nelly Ruiz. He spent his childhood in Canovanas and Carolina, as well as on the mainland U.S., mainly Miami, Florida, and New York City, New York, where he was inspired by R&B and dancehall music.
He has stated that he had an Italian great-grandfather, from Palermo, Sicily.
One of Rauw’s grandfathers is named Rafael “Rafi” Rodríguez. Rafael was a radio host in the 1970s and 1980s.
