Leah’s paternal grandmother was Lilli Brunner (the daughter of Friedrich Heinrich Brunner and Edith Glass). Lilli was from a German Jewish family. Friedrich was born in Landau in der Pfalz, Germany, the son of Albert Brunner and Bertha Rheinstein. Edith was born in Marten, now Dortmund, Germany.

Leah’s maternal grandfather was Joseph Eugene Normandeau (the son of Philéas Normandeau and Louisa Jodoin). Joseph was born in French, Manitoba, to a mostly French-Canadian family, with parents from Québec; he also had distant German, Irish, English, and First Nations/Huron descent.
