Jon M. Chu (朱浩偉) is an American filmmaker. He has directed the films Step Up 2: The Streets, Step Up 3D, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Justin Bieber’s Believe, Jem and the Holograms, Now You See Me 2, Crazy Rich Asians, In the Heights, Wicked, and Wicked: For Good. He created the show The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers, which he was also a director and writer for; and also directed episodes of the show Home Before Dark.

His father, Lawrence Chu, is from Sichuan, China. His mother, Ruth, was born in Taiwan. His family owns Chef Chu’s restaurant. Jon was raised in Los Altos. He is married to graphic designer Kristin Hodge, with whom he has five children.

Jon’s maternal grandfather’s surname was Ho.
