Robot and human handshake

Are you curious about how ethics can shape the future of technology? Do questions about responsibility, human values, and societal impact guide your work, as well?

Researchers and partners working with Georgia Tech’s Ethics, Technology, and Human Interaction Center (ETHICx) bring these concerns together to advance ethics-centered approaches to emerging technologies across research, education, and public engagement.

The Ethics, Technology, and Human Interaction Center (ETHICx) — pronounced “ethics” — advances ethics-centered research, education, and engagement at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Launched by the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts and the College of Computing with seed funding from the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research, ETHICx brings ethical reflection into the heart of technology development.

ETHICx works with communities, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, industry partners, and researchers to address the societal impacts of emerging technologies. Through collaborative research and engagement, the Center supports systematic ethical analysis, inclusive decision-making, and responsible design practices that consider fairness, accountability, transparency, and social justice from the start.

Building on Georgia Tech’s longstanding leadership in technology-related ethics, ETHICx connects scholars across disciplines and initiatives to serve as a global resource for those navigating complex ethical questions at the intersection of science, technology, and society.

AI Manufacturing, Ethics, and Policy

ETHICx supports the Georgia Artificial Intelligence Manufacturing Technology Corridor (GA-AIM), helping identify and address the ethical and societal impacts of AI-enabled manufacturing systems.

National AI Institute for Adult Learning and Online Education (AI-ALOE)

ETHICx contributes to AI-ALOE by advancing participatory design practices that center human well-being and stakeholder voices in AI-driven adult learning technologies.

National AI Institute for Advances in Optimization (AI4OPT)

ETHICx works with AI4OPT to integrate ethics and values into large-scale optimization and automated decision-making systems from their earliest design stages.

Ethical and Responsible Design in the National AI Institutes

ETHICx convenes researchers across National AI Institutes to examine shared challenges, promising practices, and collaborative approaches to ethical AI design.
