Victoria Police and Esports integrity commission collaborate in fight against match-fixing
A new agreement will provide police with real-time information alerts from across the world to target suspicious betting activity and deter betting-related match-fixing in esports. The Letter of Arrangement was signed between Victoria Police and esports integrity body the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) in February this year. It will allow Victoria Police’s Sporting Integrity Intelligence Unit (SIIU) to receive real-time betting alerts from ESIC on esports events should any matches exhibit suspicious betting activity, ensuring detectives can commence an investigation as soon as possible where required.

ESIC Hands Down 12 Month Bans to Three Individuals in Legends of Runeterra Cheating Incident
ESIC received a report from ESL Asia relating to the abnormal progression of particular participants in the ESL Mobile Open Legends of Runeterra (Ladder 2) tournament. Upon investigating the evidence provided to ESIC and conducting further enquiries, ESIC determined that the three individuals had colluded to cheat in the ladder-based tournament by engaging in boosting behaviour. Accordingly, ESIC has sanctioned the three individuals with bans of 12 months each. The Legends of Runeterra “LoR” players sanctioned include Le Hiep, DiaComSuon, and Cuticini.

EPIC’s CIS RMR event has been the subject of public controversy for various reasons. As EPIC is not a member of ESIC, ESIC has not taken steps to investigate the extent of integrity threats in the event. However, on 9 June 2021, ESIC has made a referral to Valve including substantial evidence indicating the existence of potential betting fraud perpetrated by individuals participating or associated with those who were participating in the CIS RMR event run by EPIC.

ESIC has today issued Team Vitality with a fine of $10,000.00 for their breach of the ESIC Code. ESIC’s decision to fine the organisation rather than disqualify, suspend or ban the team is predicated on ESIC’s review of the evidence which indicates that taking an action in the alternative would have been a disproportionate and unfair outcome for the negligence of the organisation’s staff, who, whilst negligent, had no intentional malice in their actions.

Joint Statement by the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) and ESEA regarding sanctions against seven CS:GO players for betting offences
ESIC and ESEA have been jointly investigating multiple instances of breaches of ESIC’s Anti-Corruption Code within the Mountain Dew League (“MDL”) by several individuals. On 31st August, ESL and Dreamhack jointly announced bans imposed on Nicolai 'HUNDEN' Petersen of Heroic (12 months from 31st Aug 2020), Ricardo ‘dead’ Sinigaglia of MIBR (6 months) and Aleksandr 'MechanoGun' Bogatyrev of Hard Legion (24 months) in consultation with ESIC. Thursday 30th April: ESL and ESIC (Esports Integrity Commission) have investigated an allegation of cheating that was raised against Emil “emilshe1n” Mamedov, during an ESL CS:GO Premiership group stage match between team VAC and team nerdRage on Tuesday 28th April. In conclusion of an investigation undertaken by ESL & ESIC, it is clear that there was a tournament rules violation by emilshe1n and, therefore, an appropriate punishment has been issued as a result of the completed investigation.
