I thought, "You know what’d be funny? To not post for a year and then change my name." Sorry about that. Life crept up on me, and the longer I went, the more I was like, "It's been so long!" I am hoping wrt the name change that keeping the initials will help.

I would like to start posting again, but with the way fandom has branched out, and the various platforms and such, I think I am going to keep most stuff locked down moving forward, especially when talking about life things. Fic will still live on my fic journal, and maybe someday I will get around to doing AO3.

So for now, this is mostly to say, name change, hi! elizah_jane -> errant_jane. It seemed appropriate. It’s been a year, how are you?

Also, consider this a period of defriending amnesty. If you were just here for the fic/SPN stuff, there will not likely be much of that moving forward. There will still be fannish things, but more in the line of discussions and stuff over fic. I do not Teen Wolf. Just putting that out there now.

My tumblr name is ramalot, though I haven't posted there recently. I use it mostly as a "things I like" place, but I dislike it as an interactive platform, so I don't consider it an active fannish thing. It’s more like a voyeuristic scrapbook maybe? So follow/unfollow at will. Now that Spartacus is over, I'm not sure what will turn up there. Maybe I'll just go through the 2k of "liked" posts I have and actually reblog them.

I have been reading my flist like a creepy lurker, so I might start commenting occasionally as well. Just to add to the confusion. :D

What happened was... Full of Spartacus feelings one night, I spent five hours over chat summarizing the whole of the series to the lovely and wonderful and very patient laulan (♥) (who had no current plans of watching the series, and OMG, you guys, I had SO MANY FEELINGS to share!). The next day, upon realizing how much I'd written, I decided to clean it up, add pictures and post it on lj. AS YOU DO!

PLEASE NOTE: If you are planning on watching the series (which you really totally should, it is AMAZING), don't spoil yourself by reading this. While it is an incredibly spoilery summary of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, it is a woeful misrepresentation of how awesome the show truly is. It is also a conversational re-telling of the show from my wildly biased POV, and is missing huge chunks of the narrative that I did not, at the time, need to get into in order to express my show feelings. If, OTOH, you plan on NEVER watching the show EVER, or you've seen S1, I hope it amuses.

I have recently been doing a SPN rewatch, as you do this time of year. Consequentially, I have been spewing SPN meta all over laulan via email (and after all that, she offered to beta this for me <333), so I figured I might as well do an actual post about it, seeing as how Rex Manning day is nigh upon us. Let's pretend for the moment that I haven't been away from the internet for the past six months. (Hi, I'm still alive!)

Anyway, these are my thoughts on SPN and some of the hows and whys of the story it's telling. These are my Pollyanna opinions (My intention with meta is almost always to make people feel more optimistic about things). Sorry if it gets a little rambling- I have a lot of feelings. YMMV, of course.

Exciting things first: exmanhater recorded a podfic version of The Storm Outside and the Fire Bright!! It is AWESOME!!! :DDD

I've mentioned how much I love podfics before, right? SO MUCH FUN!

Over the weekend, instead of doing productive writing this weekend, I faffed about with some ridiculous drawer fic, which made me think of a conversation from last year's Wincon. Some of us were talking about the first fics we read in fandom - discovering dark/kinky/whatever fic (and books for that matter) and thinking, "This is shaping me in ways I can never undo." I think that sums up the SPN experience rather well. (I <3 our kinky fandom!)

Um, hmm. I think that's it.

Jared moves off campus his junior year of college, only to discover that one of his new roommates is his high school nemesis, Jensen Ackles, whom Jared has sworn to hate forever. Except, as it turns out, there might be more to Jensen than meets the eye, and hate isn't the right word for what Jared feels.

I need to write up an actual posting summary, but since I hate doing them, I'm going to save that for later.

My plans for the evening are as follows:

Watch DVR'd episodes of Craig Ferguson and read BB summaries until it's time for SPN. Watch SPN. Go to bed. I am a little old lady way before my time. I'm pretty okay with that.

Don't front like you don't shamelessly objectify Jensen. I won't believe you. It is one of the tenets upon which our fandom is built. I am pleased by the number of Jeff/Jensen prompts there already. Needs some Jensen/Matt Bomer, I think. They can argue about who's prettier and then have a pillow fight.

I am trying to write more things right now. As, like, a daily exercise or whatever. Currently, however, both my spn_cinema fic and my spn_j2_bigbang (which I'm trying my hardest to not think about right now) are out to beta. I'm doing fic-tac-toe with rhythmsextion*, but I gave her the first move, so I can't work on that, either. I could poke at some other wips, but I think I want to do this instead (stolen from britomart_is):

Give me one of my own stories, and a timestamp sometime in the future after the end of the story, or sometime in the past before the story started, and I'll write you at least a hundred however many words of what happened then, whether it's five minutes before the story started or ten years in the future.

In other news, I am excited for SPN tomorrow, and still completely unspoiled about the last few episodes of the season (which, thank you awesome flist for all of your cut-tags!). I am sad that Justified is over for the season, because that show is pretty awesomecakes as well. When does White Collar come back?

I think we are perhaps a little spoiled now with shows that have summer seasons. Back in the day, we had to watch RERUNS! over the summer. Except for that one year 90201 had a summer season where Brenda went to Paris and [spoiler alert!] Kelly and Dylan hooked up. Ah, good times.

I've also been watching Psych via the Netflix streaming, and I'm kind of ridiculously in love with it now. I will make a sadface of sadness when I run out of episodes. And sometimes when I'm looking to fill up 20 minutes, I'll rewatch random episodes of 30 Rock (I haven't seen it at all this season! When does it come to Netflix?), which is always brilliant.

Okay, I think that's it for now. I'm glad tomorrow's Friday.

Oh, wait! That is not all! I will totally be buying this book when it comes out. Okay, NOW I'm done.

I have been frantically trying to get all the writing things with deadlines finished. Y'know, by the deadline. Yes, when I was in school I totally wrote all my papers the night before. Why do you ask?

I really am feeling quite punchy and brain-fried right now. I think I need a nap.

How are y'all doing?

I'm currently trying to decide between taking a nap, or going to get coffee and a cookie. I don't keep junk food in the house, so I generally feel like if the craving is bad enough that I'm willing to get dressed to go out and get it then I've earned it, so to speak. It's also crazy windy here today, which is a factor.

Against all odds, I managed to finish the first draft for my spn_cinema story last night, after over a month of horrible writer's block. I'm quite pleased with myself, ngl (Dear usual beta suspects, are any of y'all willing to give it a look-see?)I'm feeling ready to tackle that big bang now! Maybe after I get a cookie... (WTF, craving? GO AWAY!)

Last week, slodwick posted links to some tutorial vids from this site and they're really kind of awesome. I tried the peacock-y eyeshadow one and it turned out surprisingly well, as I was fairly certain it was a look I couldn't pull off. Anyway, the girly-girl in me was quite tickled, and I ended up ordering this eyeshadow palette from Sephora in a fit of "Yay makeup!" glee. I've always been a drugstore eyeshadow kind of girl, but after looking at the prices, I'm not sure the drugstore stuff is a better deal.

Also found through that site: Birchbox Apparently, it's $10/month and they send you fancy samples of beauty products based on your tastes, etc. It seems like a really fun concept. I totally have it bookmarked it for when I have more of a monetary cushion.

Right. So. I'm gonna go get a cookie now. *sighs in defeat*

I also watched Spartacus and the sneak preview of Camelot tonight, but I'll save those for a separate post. Here is for Show!

I feel like I haven't been saying a lot about Show this season. I really am enjoying the season, but for whatever reason I haven't really been motivated to write a lot about it. It might just have to do with the time difference. Once I'm done reading everyone else's reactions, I don't feel like I have a lot more to add. ♥ awesome flist.

I do, however, have lots of thoughts on Spartacus now that I am caught up. Is anyone else (besides Liz and Kassie) watching?

Sign-ups are tomorrow! Yay fun! I'm using this as an excuse to finish a story I started over the summer. I am excite!!

Despite it being quite a lovely day out today, I'm sticking with February being the most miserable month. It seems like everybody is grumpy/depressed/blah/whatever. For my part, everything is making me cry, so I suspect I'm a tad bit hormonal. *g* I did manage to do several grown-up things yesterday. Today the one thing I have to accomplish is going to the post office. XP

As of last night, I am caught up on Spartacus! Um, which, while awesome, isn't exactly a happy feel-good funtimes show. SO! I spent a chunk of time watching youtube clips of Kristen Bell on Craig Ferguson. I know, I know, but seriously, though! ( *___*Collapse )

During the last couple days of blindfold_spn, rhythmsextion and I were discussing whether or not we wanted to try and do one more fill before it ended (each of us, not in a co-writing way, just to be clear), because we're sometimes codependent like that. She expressed interest in doing the "sloppy seconds" prompt and I oh-so-casually suggested that maybe JDM could be involved in some fashion and then she wrote this which is HOT LIKE BURNING OMG and therefore I win at life! \o/ Go read. You can thank me later. ;D

(Backstory: I have been trying to get her to write me some JA/JDM porn for like a year now and she's always all, "But what about Jared?!?" I feel this fic is like the best compromise to this dilemma EVER!!)
