Recipe 3 - Tuna patties & Recipe 4 - Singapore noodles

3 - Tuna Patties
Reason:
Do you know how many tins of tuna I had in the pantry? They were $1.00 which is about half price, and I apparently stocked up a while ago.
Plus I knew I had other ingredients on hand.
Origin of recipe: I had one from a budget eats section of Super Food Ideas.
Comments: I changed the vegetables from potato and peas to corn, pumpkin and a bunch of whatever I had in the fridge, chopped finely. Used GF corn crumbs and once again fell victim to the GF curse - things really didn't stick together and it ended up more like a savoury mashup. Served with sweet chilli, lime, cucumber and baby spinach, it was amazing, but not what I'd expected. Day two patties were more successful, which was handy since I was hosting my brother and sister in law for lunch then. Sister-in-law asked for the recipe so I guess that speaks for itself.

Recipe 4 - Singapore-style noodles.
Reason: Dinner. Trying to incorporate some cheap prawns* I found at the shops today along with vermicelli noodles from the pantry and some fresh lemongrass I found while away with my parents.
Origin of recipe:Back of a packet-mix for 'Asian style coconut curry sauce'
Comment: I like spicy food, but the lemongrass, ginger and chilli in this made my mouth burn for a while. In a good way. It took a long time to peel 1kg of prawns, but I'm going to use half of them for prawn, sesame and avocado salad as school lunches.

*Despite the spurious claims of Paul Hogan, Aussies never cook with shrimps, they're prawns.

Recipe 2 - Donna Hay Mix & Melt GF chocolate cake

Recipe
Reason
: Leftover cream from the last recipe. Afternoon tea with a friend. Leftovers could be served at our church dinner.
Origin of recipe: Was given this recipe by one of the coeliac ladies from church after I'd tried it at her place.
Comments: This recipe was supremely easy to make - it didn't even require beaters. Had all the ingredients at home already too. I went with a ganache for icing rather than the fudge recipe (to use up the cream). I put the ganache on the cake a little too soon, but it looks fairly good complete.

Recipe 1 - Berry and white chocolate cheesecake.

Reason: invitation to a BBQ. I also had some cream cheese in the fridge which was on the verge of expiration.
Origin of recipe: From my collected recipe folder, it was one I picked up from the supermarket. Originally meant to be a mango and white chocolate cheesecake, because I had some leftover jam I wanted to use, I changed the flavour.
Comments: I liked that it ended up very homemade looking based on my handcrushing of the biscuits, and the dolloping of the mixture into a meringue style shape.

Re: church on 10th July

So I have been looking at the Mars Hill website and according to this page:

There is a different sermon for the Ballard campus (main campus) than for the other campuses. I think this has something to do with the feed given to other campuses of Pastor Mark speaking - all that I've seen on Youtube isn't that clear on it really. Website is overwhelming with data b/c of so many campuses and me not really having a clue where they are etc.

Ballard: 1401 NW Leary Way Seattle, WA Seattle 98107
Services at 9.00, 11.15 am, 5.00pm and 7.15pm. No childcare facilities at 7.15pm
Content:
The Parable of the Wicked Tenants - #82 Luke 20:9-18

According to Google maps (and I seriously don't know how reliable that is) the estimated travel time for 21.4 miles is 32 minutes (50 in traffic)

While using another source of info
(which also appears to be using Google maps I AM SO CONFUSED) we are 12.21 miles away. Is this using some different motor way, or as the crow flies or something?

Or if we were to go to the Shoreline campus, (2800 North 200th Street Seattle, WA Seattle 98155) it appears to be closest?
Google estimates 21 minutes. No traffic supposedly.

Services at 9.00am, 11.15am and 5.00pm with childcare at all services.
Content:
Angry Jesus Cleanses the Temple – #81 Luke 19:45-20:8

As for what service time, I have absolutely no preference. It all seems to be running at civilised hours so whatever works within the schedules of others most appropriately would be the best!
Spring, if you happen to note that there is a locality more convenient for you, since you're the local, feel free to make that call. This was based on what I could glean in my ditzy searching.

Day 14 - A place you've never visited but want to.

Great Britain - the Motherland. So many historic places I've read and learned about and wished i knew intimately.

Also I want to visit France, Greece, the Netherlands and Turkey. Again to see places of historic and geographic significance. I also want to go to the Smithsonian and the Chicago Metropolitan Museum of Art. Also after seeing the Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem, I'd like to see a German one. Also Auschwitz. And to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the only non-academically minded locality.

Also wanted to visit the swirling cups at Disneyland, but that's full steam ahead for this July. Yay!

So I was listening to Bach's Pastorale (as per the last entry) and now my blog is featuring ads for Farmoz  who insist I should "grow your crops with us"

Just like my facebook is littered with ads for Teaching, distance education degrees, french expatriates and cupcakes.

Amused more than revolted really.

I love my new job. I cherish my friends. My brother is married to the sweetest girl and I couldn't be happier. I could probably be more awake though - this commute is pretty tiring!

r&j twilight

Sparkly vampires.

Watching Twilight with my family has been pretty hysterical. There has been sock throwing, much groaning and quite a few giggles.

Mum's overall reaction
: He needs to do his hair, and there's some really bad acting!
Their skin is a bit pale. (On Carlisle) His shirt and skin are.. quite.... white...

Random reactions from the boys:
Levi: It's just as well Cedric Diggory is dead or we'd kill him (followed by Dad: Is that Cedric Diggory? Where?)
What a lame Volvo.
I'm going to be seasick with all the panning around.
What bad acting.
When do they sparkle? I want to see them sparkle.

I gave occasional warnings when particularly dreadfully acted scenes were coming up, which led to mum saying "It gets worse??"

Levi and dad: Oh brother (when Edward starts running up the hill) Doesn't even look like he's climbing.
This is so fake.

Me: Stalkerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Levi: Vampires are more fun when they die in the sunlight.

(Edward is talking about how his every thought is consumed by Bella)
Me: Do you see why teenage girls love Edward?
Levi & dad: No??
Me: *rolls eyes*

(After Edward decides to take Bella to his house)
Dad and Levi: Guess who's coming for dinner!
Levi: They'd better make sure she washes thoroughly..... (Later on) .. They're having Italian... her name is Bella!

(they're snogging in Bella's bedroom)
Levi: This is a kids movie right? She should pu some pants on.
Mum: (Quote of the century) He should hurry up and EAT her!

Charlie: (after Bella has pretended to break up with Edward) What's wrong with him?
Mum: He's an animal!

After Bella leaves Charlie.
Dad and Levi: Aw, that wasn't very nice. Charlie's going to cry now!

Mum: She's causing all this trouble, why doesn't Edward just bite her?
Levi: AT least their taste in cars has improved.
Dad: Well the 4wd's are still a worry.

(Pepper spray)
Levi: so the vampires have seasoning?

Carlisle: She only has minutes left.
Me: Thankfully, so does this movie.

(After Bella's mum recounts how Bella supposedly injured herself).
Dad: That's not exactly how I remembered it?
Levi: Yeah, there was a little more fire, huh.

(Edward starts kissing Bella)
Dad: Don't look doggie
Levi: Lie back and think of Engiand... bored now.

ipod update.

Quelle coleur?
Rose? Orange? Jaune? Vert? Bleu? Violet? Gris?

Je deteste les noir et rouge.
J'aime particuleur l'orange, vert, bleu et aussi violet.

En anglais:
Heck I can't decide. Why did my mp3 player decide to die during Programming week, when I'm stuck in front of a computer most of the day??? (Also is beyond me as to why I decided to start writing in simple French at 10pm at night).

Mope.

Edited to add:
The other thing that confuses me somewhat is why I want to buy an ipod now, given that I have up till now been very antiestablishmentarian as far as they're concerned. But I don't replace things like this (or my phone or Julian or whatever) until they are well and truly dead, so I don't feel like i'm upgrading, but there is definitely some little guilty part of me going "I'm suscribing to pop culture and the impact of social consumerism in this ubiquitous action! especially if i get it in pink, cause i used to hate hot pink for its barbie-ness and plastic girlyness :p"

What can I say - I love this play.

Your result for The Which Shakespeare Play Are You? Test...

You are the Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet.

Perhaps one of Shakespeare's most memorable works, Romeo and Juliet tells the story of two star-crossed lovers of warring families and their untimely deaths in each other's arms. What your score tells us about you is that you are most likely a romantic person who is willing to go to extremes for the ones you love. For this, your family and friends love and respect you (even if they may tease you from time to time). While you may be a bit of a fickle-heart, you are also a spontaneous and adventurous person with a big heart and a lot of love to give. We certainly love you, and we're sure that a lot of other people do too!

Edited to add: We're talking serious puffed sleeve action here. Anne Shirley would be envious.
