My Intro and some ER Thoughts [03 Mar 2010|05:14pm]

sifukatara
[ mood | curious ]

Hi! I just joined this comm and I thought I’d introduce myself and share some ER thoughts with everyone here!

My name is Lauren and I’ve been a fan of ER since season 5! My two favorite characters are Jeanie Boulet and Lucy Knight. But I have more in common with Jeanie personality wise. Jeanie was also the one who helped me not be so afraid when I went into the hospital for various procedures back when I was younger.

With that said, I know we all have our favorite episodes of ER and our own personal reasons for liking them. One of mine is “Rites of Spring” from season 5.

I recently re-watched it and I thought I’d share my thoughts with all the ER fans here. Feel free to do the same in a comment.

Just in case you need a refresher or you haven’t seen it, here is a small summary of Jeanie’s plot.

summary behind the cut!Collapse )

The minute I heard the music that accompanied their prayers begin, I actually dropped what I was doing on the spot and closed my own eyes.
I could feel God’s presence right there in the room with me and knew He was trying to tell me something.

After the prayers were over, I felt a sense of peace wash over me.

You see, I was going for an eye doctor appointment the next day and I had been scared about it.

The instant I closed my eyes, the music of Jeanie’s prayer surrounded me and I felt God’s presence as well.

I knew He was telling me everything was going to be okay. And it was.

I woke up the morning of the appointment feeling better about it I was still a little apprehensive, but mostly I felt at peace about it.

In fact, when we stepped into the waiting room of the office the next day, I closed my eyes and I actually heard the music from the prayer in my head. I immediately felt a calm come over me. My doctor noticed too.

That particular Jeanie storyline has always been special to me and I know God used it to help me find faith in Him again just as He helped Jeanie find her faith as well.

Also, a fun fact for everyone. I loved Jeanie’s prayer song so much, I taught myself how to play it on the piano two days later. And I can still play it till this day.

So how about the rest of you ER fans out there? What are your thoughts on this episode? Or was there another episode that had significance for you or helped you in some way?

Episode Question [13 Aug 2006|08:39pm]

ladyvader2
Hey there,

I've got an episodic-related question for everyone here, I vaguely remember an episode w/ Doug and a little girl, and for the life of me cannot figure out which episode it is, and honestly, it's been bugging and bothering me for quite some time now, and I was wondering if anyone can help me out.

I vaguely recall an episode that I watched on a TNT rerun, years ago, probably 3 or 4 by now, and what I'm remembering deals with Dr. Doug Ross and this little red-headed girl with glasses that he's treating and this little girl is annoying and obnoxious and she's running all over the floor/halls of the ER just screaming and such things, and perhaps she's got a stethoscope and she's running around with that as well, and I recall a bit of Weaver/Doug interaction perhaps on this, but all I can remember is that this little red-headed (possibly curly haired as well) girl w/ glasses is just really obnoxious and runs around and gets into everything and won't stop, and Doug finally corners her down and treats her and discharges and sends her home. --- Only later, her mother rushes her into the ER and/or there's this big emergency with her, 'cause it turns out that she's sick because she's been over-dosing on her vitamins, which she's been taking out of the bottle and getting into without her mother's knowledge, information which Doug gathers from the mother that the little girl's vitamins contain iron in them, and thus, she has iron poisoning, very severe, and at the end, the little girl ends up dying from the iron/toxic vitamin overdose, and the mother's all upset, and Doug is upset too.

I only recall seeing it this one time, but I've recently bought all the available seasons of ER on dvd in the U.S., that would be Seasons 1-5, and I've watched every single episode at least once from each season, and considering Doug leaves in the 5th season, the episode that I saw has to be in the 1st-early 5th season, and I've watched every episode on that line, and nada, I haven't found this one.

And so I'm curious - am I making this up? Did I just dream it or get it confused with another show or something? I'm asking if anyone else knows what at all that I'm talking about here, or if I've just made it up some how.

It's just - I could swear that it's a Doug Ross-case, so I don't think it's in any other season past five, if it's at all on ER, but perhaps it wasn't Ross and maybe it was Luka or Greene? I just know that Ross stood out to me at that point,('cause of him being George freakin' Clooney) and this case did as well, just because of the way that it ended with the little girl dying. It was a sad thing, because earlier on in the episode she had been so obnoxious and annoying, and they were fed up with her, but than at the end, she was dead, and it was just...very sad, 'cause they would have gave anything at that point to have her be alive and running around and everything again. I don't think that I, as opposed to quiet and dead. I don't think I'm confusing facts and things, I can just remember this particular case so well, (and it was a PEDs case, so it would've been Ross' thing) but since it's been so long since I've seen it, and at the time that I saw it, I wasn't really this into the show, it's possible that I am.

Anybody else recall this? And if so - which season/episode? 'Cause it's just absolutely killing me here, so I needed to request at the behalf of others to find out whether or not I'm just making of this up and it's all in my head or maybe I'm confusing facts and things.

Thanks for any help anybody can give me on this. It's been bothering me for at least two weeks now, and since I've watched every episode, without seeing this particular case, I've succumbed to desperation and just decided to ask other fans of the show, even bigger and better fans than I am and see if someone can clear all of this up for me and point me in the right direction. lol. Thanks, guys.

Possible Parminder Site [01 Jul 2006|09:17pm]

amber2403
Hello, Parminder & Neela Fans!

I am possibly thinking about opening up a site for Parminder and am looking for serious fans to help me out. I already run one site on Shane West, http://shanewestfan.net/ , and with all of the major changes going on in my personal life right now, I just do not have time to do this alone. This is why I need your help. I feel like since POL closing, we've lost a great source for Parminder and there NEEDS to be one.

So if you're interested in becoming a co-web for this possible site then please let me know. I only want to start it up if I know that I have a few people that I can count on to update when I cannot. So please, only apply if your are just as SERIOUS about this site as I am. I need a few people that I can depend on to update regularly.

Website knowledge is also a plus.

I cannot do this without your support and help so if you've got the time, the knowledge, and want to help provide a great, high quality source for Parminder Fans then please either comment here or email me @ shanewestfan@gmail.com.

I hope to hear from you soon. If I don't get the support I need, it is very unlikely that this site will happen. I really want to do it, and I'm sure that you all will really want it so please if you can help out, do.

Thanks!
Amber

Does anyone know how to find out what songs were on tonight's (5/4/06) episode? I loved the last song. It seemed like an African hip hop song but it had all the children in it. It sounded amazing. Anyone know how I can do this? Thanks in advance.

And on yeah...i'm new here. I'm Kyle.

Oh dear, how funny ... there's a clip on Oprah who has George Clooney on the show, and he was talking about how Anthony Edwards (I think) would bring his little boy on the set, something like that. One day while they were filming on the set of ER they took a break to go eat somewhere and the kid was choking on a french fry, everyone is saying okay someone do something but of course the restaurant staff is looking at them thinking they're actually doctors because of how they're dressed and wanting to take their drinks away because they didn't know what to do LOL

Wow I completely forgot about this episode ... currently watching the daily morning reruns. Christmas episode that started out where Luka and Harkins (can't remember her first name, she was a med student) were in some car accident and the show started with them wheeling in Harkins on a stretcher. I remember seeing it when it originally aired but I can't remember how it ended. Seems like the shows been bouncing around showing several different patients/things/etc that happened before the accident.
