A Message from the Editor-in-Chief:
Welcome to the Journal of Engineering Technology® (JET). JET is a refereed journal published semi-annually, in spring and fall, by the Engineering Technology Division (ETD) of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). The aim of JET is to provide a forum for the dissemination of original scholarly articles as well as review articles in all areas related to engineering technology education. The journal is indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded through Elsevier, the Applied Science & Technology Index through Ebscohost, Technology Collection through ProQuest and Ei Compendex and Engineering Village through Elsevier. The journal features a distinguished editorial board, which brings together a team of highly motivated and experienced researchers and educators. The diverse experience of the board members allows our editorial panel to lend their expertise to a broad spectrum of engineering technology subjects.
The Journal of Engineering Technology® invites authors to submit their original unpublished scholarly works in the following areas: accreditation, active learning, applied research, assessment, capstone projects, classroom activities, curriculum design, distance learning, industry partners, innovative pedagogy, laboratories, non-technical skills, and other topics related to engineering technology practice and education. Before submitting a manuscript, potential authors should refer to the JET Editorial Policy, the Manuscript Guidelines, and the Style Guide on the “Information for Authors”. The manuscript must be written in a scholarly tone, have a research component, and have applications to engineering technology. Manuscripts should be submitted using the “Submit via Scholastica” portal for review. (See the right side menu of this page for the submit button.)
All JET manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review as well as an editorial board review. I am dedicated to providing authors with a productive, fair, and timely review experience.
My primary goal as editor-in-chief is to ensure that the Journal of Engineering Technology® remains flexible in attending to the rapidly shifting engineering technology landscape, while also maintaining and intensifying the high standards of quality and excellence for which the journal is known. I sincerely hope that engineering technology educators will eagerly access the Journal of Engineering Technology® as both submitters and readers. Please browse through the various sections of the JET website and do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.
Sincerely,
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PREDATORY JOURNALS
Authors and researchers are strongly encouraged to become familiar with the concept of predatory journals. An informative article on this topic appeared in the February 2017 issue of ASEE’s PRISM magazine, accessible at http://www.asee-prism.org/the-dark-side-of-open-access/.
In recent years, the Journal of Engineering Technology® (JET) has been targeted by predatory websites attempting to misuse the journal’s official ISSN. Authors interested in publishing with JET should be aware that it is a highly esteemed journal, indexed by several reputable organizations. The official ISSN numbers for JET, as assigned by the Library of Congress, are as follows:
- Print ISSN: 0747-9964
- Online ISSN: 2998-8969
Please note that engtech.org/jet/ is the only official website for JET. Authors of accepted manuscripts are responsible for a publication fee of $75 per journal page, which includes two complimentary printed copies of the journal issue.
For further questions, please contact the Editor-in-Chief directly. Do not contact the webmaster.
