How to add CNAME Record in cPanel using the DNS Zone Editor?


CNAME records, also known as alias records, map an alias domain to its canonical (true) domain name. You can add a CNAME record using the cPanel Zone Editor by following these steps:

  1. Log into your cPanel account (e.g., www.example.com/cpanel).
  2. In the "Domains" section, click on the "Zone Editor" icon.

  3. Under "Domains", you will see several options below the "Actions" heading.

  4. Click on "CNAME Record". A small window will open. Enter the required details:
    • Name: Enter the subdomain you wish to add, such as www. cPanel will automatically append your domain name (e.g., www.example.com).
    • CNAME: Enter the canonical domain name you want this alias to point to.

    Click the "Add a CNAME Record" button to save your changes.
  5. If the record is added successfully, you will see a confirmation message. Please note that DNS propagation can take up to 24 hours.

Note: It may take anywhere from 12 to 24 hours for DNS changes to take effect worldwide.
