How to Access your Email Account from cPanel Webmail?

Webmail allows you to check your e-mail from any computer or mobile device using a web browser, without needing to install any software. It is perfect for checking your messages while away from your main office or home computer.

There are two ways to access your webmail: directly via your browser address bar, or through your cPanel interface.

Method 1: Direct Access (Fastest)

This is the quickest way to check your mail day-to-day. You do not need to log in to your hosting control panel first. There are three common URL formats you can use:

Option A: The Sub-folder (Most Common)

Type your domain name followed by /webmail.

Option B: The Sub-domain

If the first option doesn't work, you can try using the specific webmail subdomain.

  • webmail.example.com

Option C: The Specific Port

If you are behind a strict firewall or want to connect directly to the service port, you can use the port number at the end of your address.

  • Port 2096 (Secure Webmail): example.com:2096
This is the standard direct port for accessing webmail securely via HTTPS.
  • Port 2083 (Secure cPanel): example.com:2083
Note: This port logs you into the full cPanel interface, not just webmail. You can still access your inbox from here, but you will need your full cPanel username and password, not just your email address.

Once you reach the login screen:

  1. Username: Enter your full e-mail address (e.g., [email protected]).
  2. Password: Enter your e-mail account password.
  3. Click Log in.

Method 2: Access via cPanel

If you are already logged into your cPanel account, or if you have forgotten your e-mail password and need to reset it, you can access webmail this way.

  1. Log in to your cPanel account.
  2. Scroll down to the Email section and click on Email Accounts.
  3. Find the e-mail address you want to check in the list.
  4. Click the Check Email button next to that account.
  5. You will be logged in automatically without needing to enter the password.

Choosing Your Interface (Roundcube)

Once logged in, cPanel usually provides the Roundcube interface. This is a modern, drag-and-drop interface that functions similarly to desktop mail applications.

If it is your first time logging in, you may see a welcome screen asking you to "Open my inbox when I log in". Check this box and click Open to go straight to your inbox in the future.

Troubleshooting Login Issues

  • "Authentication Failed": This usually means the password is incorrect. Remember that your e-mail password is separate from your cPanel account password.
  • Username: Always use the full e-mail address as your username. Using just the part before the "@" (e.g., just "info") will not work.
