Google Android Apps that help with Google Apps for Business

Google Apps for Business give you some excellent tools to increase your productivity both in the office using Google's Chrome browser but also when you are out of the office on your Android smartphone or tablet. I want to run through some of the official Google Apps available for Android.

Gmail

From their product page: Gmail is built on the idea that email can be more intuitive, efficient, and useful. And maybe even fun. Get your email instantly via push notifications, read and respond to your conversations online & offline, and search and find any email.
I would say that Gmail is the most used app for their service. Email is a fairly basic need in business but this app gives a sleek interface for both reading and writing whilst on the move. The settings that are available give options specify the amount of emails to be synced; By default this is set to the last 30 days of the Inbox and sent email but pulling in the power of filters and labels you can set the limit on a near endless basis.
Additionally to save data Google have included the ability to only download attachments whilst on a WiFi network.

One issue that I do find with the app is the signature has to be in plain text which means that there is no fancy formatting as is available on the desktop version. On the up side this does give a differentiator to say that the email has been sent from a mobile device.

Google Calendar

From their product page: The Calendar app displays events from each of your Google Accounts that synchronizes with your Android device. You can also:

• Create, edit, and delete events.
• View all your calendars at the same time, including non-Google calendars.
• Quickly email all event guests from a notification with a customizable message.

The calendar apps is a great product and does exactly what it should, it gives access to all calendars that are shared with you and the ability to view only certain calendars in day, week, month or agenda view.
Whilst creating new event you are able to:

• copy in attendees
• add recurrence
• Set privacy and busy/available options

Google Drive

From their product page: With Google Drive, you can store all your files in one place, so you can access them from anywhere and share them with others

• Use the Google Drive Android app to access your photos, documents, videos and other files stored on your Google Drive
• Upload files to Google Drive directly from your Android device
• Share any file with your contacts

This app has greatly improved since it was first released and gives you the ability to edit and collaborate in real-time with colleagues working on either another device or desktop.

You are able to create folders, Google Docs and Google Sheets directly from the app, and also can scan documents directly to your cloud folders using the handsets camera.

This will be one of the main apps that you end up using.
