Set within a lovingly restored neoclassical building, the hotel’s very essence is rooted in the Renaissance of both place and self. From the moment guests step through its historic arched doorways, they are welcomed into a space where the old and new coexist in poetic harmony.
Narrative of Emerald Character
“Being defined by the world and its incessant obsession with meaning is inevitable when you have a name like mine. I start by introducing myself as Emerald, and then their game of association begins: “green, precious gemstone, plants…”, that’s usually how far they get, not realizing it’s a name with roots as deep as history, reflecting a past brimming with luxury.
He? She? It? Why would that matter anyway? Naturally, not being partial to the definitions of others, I took the matter in my own hands. I stumbled across the world looking for myself, my emerald-colored bracelet gleaming in that self-reflexive abyss, leading the way.
It was only when I discovered an aging building in its revival stages when I was visiting an Athenian neighborhood, that I came to a brusque realization – namely that I had to be reborn by reinventing myself in my own terms in order to truly discover who I am. The day I locked gazes with that building, I got in touch with an earth-shaking feeling of deep excitement to see what it would become; what I would become.
And so, I ran headfirst into that feeling, covered in bold pieces of tulle carrying me around the city I discovered love in, like a cloud discovering what it is like to exist. Maybe I was in love with Athens herself too; maybe I had finally fallen in love with myself. Love was the leading force to everything I once overlooked: bold art, magnificent literature, bright music, life’s small or big pleasures… One thing was for certain: I was reborn into something I had long longed to be.”
