Still Around!

EP Wolf Marymouse
*Dusts off the old LJ* I still have this account, so how is everyone doing?

These days, I am currently residing in Central Florida, and I haven’t moved far since I last posted. Life has been good overall - I got a good (and quite an interesting) job and able to have a decently stable financial situation. However, I’m still on the fence about staying in Florida for the long term. It’s a story for another day :p

On the furry front, I’m still attending furry cons and functions whenever I can, but less of it. Cons are super expensive to attend, the bigger cons are getting more crowded, and I’m more of a quality over quantity type of person, so if I only get a couple of cons in a year then I’m content with it. In fact, I have noticed that I did a lot more furry activity back in the Midwest than here in Florida. I have my theories for it. Maybe it’s another incentive to move back, hmm.

I figured out that I passed my “furry half life” last December, which is crazy to think about. I have been involved with furry for most of my life by now. Here’s to more funness along the way!

Checking in!

EP Wolf Marymouse
Hello everyone! I haven’t forgotten about LJ, even after a couple of years of not posting anything to it. I do occasionally check posts from friends and comment but life and Twitter got my attention.

Since I last posted, a LOT has changed in my life. I no longer live in the Midwest, as I moved and became a Florida resident a couple of months ago. I finally moved to an area that I was meaning to move in for the last 20 years! I had a couple of close calls but things never materialized, until now.

With my move to the Sunshine State, I got a new job as well. Now I won’t go into details of the company I work for publicly, but let’s just say that it’s in a totally different industry and hands-down the most interesting company I have ever worked for - in my life. I am glad to take on a totally different job with a fun twist of a challenge! So far, I have been doing pretty well. My goal is to learn and get experience in as many things as I can, and figure out where to go from there.

The only bummers to moving down here is the amount of traffic throughout the major cities in this state. I really do not remember the traffic being this bad in the past. I am so glad that my work schedule gets around the mess that the majority of the population here has to deal with everyday. So I feel lucky.

The other bummer are my friends who I will dearly miss back home in the Midwest. There are even certain aspects of the Midwest that I already miss. The open land, traffic not being as bad, the small towns spread throughout the region - they all have their little charm. Oh too, the food! Central Florida doesn’t seem to have any particular foods they can call their own, or that sticks out to me. Blah. Once I gain some vacation time, my goal is to fly back and see friends and some family.

As for my furry life, I am still pretty active in it, but have toned down the amount of cons I will attend in a year. For the last few years, I was starting to feel the burn factor whenever I attended a con, which isn’t a good thing. Plus, the cons were getting expensive and I want to save money for other things (like fursuits and such ;) Going to just a couple of cons a year is something that I can live with these days, and last year I did just that. Quality over quantity is a great thing!

Yes, I still have a whole collection of fursuits. Since I last posted, I have gained and sold a few critters, which is quite nice. I get to see up close and enjoy the latest and greatest in the fursuiting community, while enjoying my older ones which have really held up super well over the years. Even if I don’t make it to as many cons, I still find ways to get my critters out! Sometimes I will lend out my fursuits to friends and let them take it to cons so I can be there in spirit ^^

Wow, I typed out a bit more than I anticipated. Maybe I just needed to get this out of my mind and communicate it to the rest of you fuzzies. Typing all of this felt pretty good, so I might as well update my journal more often. Here’s to more adventures!

Yep, I am still around, just not that much on LJ. I blame a particular social media service that uses a silly little bird as their logo. However, I didn't fully abandon LJ, as I do lurk around on it from time to time. I know that some fellow fuzzies are exclusively here, and I just wanted to let them know that yes..I am around! I will look at your journal entries.

Last December I hit the 12 year mark of being in the fandom. I can't believe that it flew by so quickly! I have seen so many things evolve among the individuals, groups, cons, fursuits and art that I just find it mind blowing. Some people have moved on or have disappeared completely, but with others I am still in contact with, and a few I am still great friends with.

Furry has been a great ride, so I hope for more enjoyment for many years to come!

Ten Years in the Fandom

Share Flag
EP Wolf Marymouse
Today marks my 10th year of being involved in furry. I remember the cold December night in 2004 when I was bored, looking at random things on the net, then someone mentions furries on a non-fur message board. I got curious and Googled “furry”, and things haven’t been the same since. Suddenly, I had this eureka moment hit me from out of nowhere while searching Google on everything furry. Every waking moment I would do as much research on the fandom as a whole - the groups, individuals, costumes, cons, you name it, I wanted to know about it!

I did know about the fandom’s existence before, but I didn’t think about it much. From the late 90’s to early 2000’s, I’ve seen tidbits on the net and TV about these people interested in costumes and art (along with the infamous TV shows that I won’t mention here) I never had the idea of getting involved with the fandom until 10 years ago. Hey..I can have some fun with this!

I got to know some fuzzies online, and it might of been February or March of 2005 when I decided to meet some fandom members in person. I went to the local Chicago LAFF meet, and I got to know even more people that night. After knowing that I can handle being around furries in person, and seeing how awesome fursuits are, I realized this furry thing is definitely for me!

My first convention was AC 2005, when it took place in Philadelphia, PA. I got on the train and made it to town in a day or so. Walking into that con was an awesome experience from the start! After AC, I confirmed that to myself furry is a definite interest for me :) I didn’t get scared out!

Over time, I’ve had some life changes, but furry has always been along for the ride with me. I’ve gone to so many places, met so many people, made lots of friends, done so many things, so furry has been a major benefit for me. It even opened me up a bit as I know that I’m a lot more outgoing these days, and I have furry to thank for some of it! Back then, I wanted to have a fursuit, and now I have 10 fursuits waiting for me at my place! I never get tired of looking at these cheerful critters looking at me :)

At some point, I want to put together a little celebration of my decade in furry. However, I might combine it with my Birthday in January, so it will have extra awesomeness!

Here’s to many more years to come in the fandom! *toast*

I haven't posted to this journal in quite a while. I still read the friend timeline, so your posts are not going ignored.

So what have I been up to lately??

I just turned 27 earlier this week, and I can't believe that i'm about 3/4 through my 20's. I moved to the South when I was 22, and I only planned on staying here for 3 years. However I've made it to 4.5, possibly about to hit the 5 year mark. I've had incentives to stay here, and by now I'm having the itch to move on again.

I'm still single, living the single life and doing my own thing. So far it's been pretty smooth. I'm still living on my own, and I'm mostly ok with it, but what makes up for the loneliness are friends visiting me and going out of town on occasion. In fact, I'll be heading off to FC in a couple of days, and I'm looking forward to that!

Speaking of FC, who will be there?

Re-attempt to sell the skunk! Fursuit for sale :)

Share Flag
EP Wolf Marymouse
A while back I tried to sell the skunk, but over time I didn't really get anywhere with finding him a new home. So here's another attempt (and another chance) to get an awesome critter!

Pics!

Most of the fursuit is self-made, but the head was made by Whitefox of Arend Studios. He’s a very sly but playful character (as you can see it with his facial expression) This Skunk gets great reactions from everyone who meets him!

It’s a comfortable suit that’s very roomy and versatile. All parts are built to be strong and easily fixable. The tail is separate from the fursuit body, and is on a nylon strap belt (which is included!) Removable padding is in the chest area. The zipper to get in and out of the costume is in the front. The feetpaws are based on a pair of soft plush sneakers, which feel very very cushiony and bouncy, and have gotten some compliments on how comfortable the feet are. Like all Arend Studios made heads, the vision is great and the head is VERY durable.

Since it’s the whole costume, you’ll get the head, body, tail, leg extensions, chest padding, handpaws, and feetpaws. If you need any advice on how to maintain the costume, I can help you out with that. If you're taller, I can possibly add a longer leg extension to the mix.

Here’s the maximum sizes. If you’re at, below or slightly above these measurements, you’ll fit!

Height: Up to 6 feet 1 inch (with leg extensions)
Waist: Up to 45 inches
Shoe size: Up to a mens size 12

Soooo..make an offer! If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Just reply or message me here on LJ (or my FA). Get back with me on the cost of shipping. Thanks ^^

Hey fuzzies..Kyro Coyote and I are on an epic road trip, going from the Mississippi Gulf Coast to San Jose in the matter of 5 days. We're planning on passing through Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona (maybe Nevada) and finally into California. Currently we're on the road somewhere in Texas, and so far so good. We'll have to watch for any snow storms along the way, but that's about it in poential hazards (but we did bring snow chains, just in case!)

So...who will I see at FC?? Comment!

Hey silly fuzzies!

I haven't posted in a while, but I'm still around. In fact I went to MFM last weekend and I had a blast hanging out with friends and other people who I haven't seen in a long time. Well worth spending Labor Day weekend on it. Oh too, I totally missed Tropical Storm Lee, so by the time I got back to the coast the weather was clear and the area was drying up.

The reason\excuse for not posting in a while? I have a good one: I've been really busy with some personal things. Pretty soon there's gonna be a lot of changes coming up in my life. In fact, I might sell some things of the fuzzy kind to help make the move easier..put it that way. So stay tuned :)

Random thoughts at the moment...

EP Wolf Marymouse
Yeah I'm still alive XD I haven't had much to type into LJ..well I'll take that back. I've been too lazy to post anything on this blog site! I blame it on that blue bird thingy.

I went to FC for the first time, and like always I had a blast. In fact it was my first birthday con, as I celebrated it over there. We even had dinner at a steakhouse place. I plan on going back sooner or later.

Right now, I'm typing this from the ballroom at FWA. No the con isn't going now, well in fact I'm watching Kaiwulf and everyone else set up their A/V gear. Looks interesting, a different twist than from the Broadcast stuff I'm used to. Yay I get to snoop around and see the con set up "behind the scenes". Whee. I have a feeling that this is gonna be a fun con :D

I just got done building a Border Collie fursuit, and I took a lot of time doing it. I made most of everything, except for the head..Whitefox did that because he's an awesome pro at it ;) I'm really glad on how it turned out, and in fact I'm still deciding on a name. I do like the name Scout or Skip. Anyone else have any ideas?

Okies, enough late night rambling for now. I have a feeling that I'm gonna stay up for a good chunk of the night, just hanging around till Lucky Wolf goes back to his place for some zzz's.

So long 2010..hello 2011

EP Wolf Marymouse
2010 is almost over, and for the most part I’m pretty happy for how this year has turned out. Sure there were some bumps along the way, but overall it’s been pretty good.

I’m still living in the South, in the same place, but in a “bigger” apartment unit ^^ Sure is nice to have the extra space!

Since December 10th, I’ve been involved in the Furry Fandom for six years. It doesn’t feel like six years either, as everything just flew on by! I’ve met so many great people and made some good friends because of this fandom. I feel thankful to be involved in such a thing :)

I went to my usual cons (with the exception of one..ahem AC), which are FWA, RCFM and MFF, but MP and MFM as well. So I got to go to 5 cons this year. Two of the cons (FWA and MP) I brought all of my fursuits to, and the rest just a couple.

I did get more of my critters out at the cons this year than before..and I enjoyed every moment of it! In fact, MP is unofficially known as “fursuit swap con”, and it probably had something to do with letting out all of the critters at once *giggles*

After MFF, I made my way out to the West coast - the Bay Area in California that is. coongt showed me around for the whole week I was out there..and I can’t thank him enough for it :) It was the first time I got to touch the West coast, as before it was all a distant place to me.

2011 might be a pretty busy year for me. First of all, I am going to FC! Finally! After five years of wanting to go, I finally get to attend this con. I never got the chance to do it till now, and I’m really looking forward to the whole thing.

Beyond the con coming up soon, the rest of the year might become more of a surprise or a mystery to me till things materialize later on in the year. I’ve been living in the South for over 2.5 years, and in the first half of the year I’ll hit the 3 year mark. There’s a chance that I might have some big changes coming up in 2011.

State of the wuff

A couple of days ago I posted this Journal update to FA, well I should of done the same for my LJ account :P So here it is.

Currently
Not a ton has gone on with me since. I survived the sweltering summer weather, and I'm glad it's cooled down a bit. I went to a few cons, like MegaPlex and MFM, and now I'm looking forward to MFF starting next month!

November - MFF and California
Starting in November, the rest of the year is going to be pretty busy for this wuff. Not only am I flying to MFF, but I'm gonna pay a visit to the bay area in California. I'll be flying into San Francisco on Monday, after the con ends. So if you're reading this, and you live out that way, let me know..mebbe we can meet up?

December
After my visit to the West coast, I'm gonna have a special guest flying in to tortur..I mean hang out with me for some time ;) (hint: who visited me a year ago?) I'll probably make a few trips to and from Orlando during December. Can't wait!

January 2011/FC
Then, in January there's a chance that I'll be able to go to FC. Best of all, the con falls on my birthday, so maybe this con will make up for the years I didn't do anything on my b-day, since moving to the South ^^ Even if I can't get a few days off for the duration of the con, I'll just fly on in on the weekend. I've been meaning to attend FC, but it just falls on the worst time of the year for me, in terms of schedules and such.

So there's an update from me..so far 2010 had it's ups and downs, more so up though. Let's see how the rest of 2010 goes :)

Hehe, the last time I typed anything meaningful in my LJ was three months ago. Time flies for sure!

Megaplex 2010

I went for the first time this year, and I’ll have to say that I had a great time at it! I actually skipped AC for the first time since I got into this whole furry thing, but I didn’t feel like I missed all that much. It’s always going to happen next year. Anyway..I got to room with Yappy, Skroy, and Kipper, and boy that was fun *chuckles* I think we had a total of 10 fursuits in the room at one time, and we were starting to run out of places to keep all of the parts! As for the fursuit cam, I need to start working on it, as I have a lot more footage that I would like to share. Even a bit from MFM.

MFM 2010

Ah yeah, skunk con, or MFM. The last time I went to this con was back in 2008, and I wasn’t too impressed with the hotel. I liked the fact there was a big front lobby for all of the furs to gather up in, but the issues and safety of the hotel were kinda meh. So I skipped it last year. This new hotel is sooooo much better, and it’s safe to walk outside! lol..

Now and later!

I won’t have much going on in terms of furry activities for the next month or so. I might meet up with some locals from time to time, but I wanna settle in for a little bit and take it easy. Because in about 2 to 3 months from now I’ll have some pretty big and exciting things going on for myself ;D I am planning on going to MFF, and maybe one little trip somewhere else after that ^^

I've never edited a vid before, till now. It took me a few hours to figure everything out, and I still have a lot to learn. So, here's a teaser clip of my fursuit camera that I strapped to the critters at MegaPlex 2010:

What do you think? simbamco gave me the idea, when he showed me some ski vids shot using a Hero HD camera. That little gadget is pretty neat! The only thing I wish for is some better audio quality out of the thing, but it's meant to be waterproof..can't complain much if that's the case.

Sooner or later I'll get around to posting a life update..I just need to do it! lol

Battle of the phones

Share Flag
Radio Chibi
I'm amazed of how far cell phones have come. The very first time I used a cellular phone was probably around the age of 4. I vaguely remember sitting in my dad's car, and him talking on this Centel-serviced car phone from time to time. One night he handed me the phone, and my mom was on the other end. Even with me being such a little guy, I thought that it was neat!

Somewhere around my early teens, my parents bought their own cell phones. I remember my mom getting the latest and greatest - the Motorola Star Tac. I was amazed by the fact that it was soooo small during it's time. Could they possibly get these "radio phones" smaller and more functional? Sure, like any other piece of technology, give it time for these manufacturers to make that dream a reality.

Around High School, my mom got me my first cell phone, through a regional carrier in the Midwest. It was the Kyocera 1135. At the time, I didn't want a phone with a ton of bells and whistles, just give me the basics. I didn't even want a camera on the thing, as I knew the picture quality sucked and I didn't want to deal with the extra fluff. I used the crap out of that phone, and till this day I still have it stashed away in storage. It still powers up and works!

Eventually I switched over to Verizon, and used an LG flip phone for a few years. I got it about the same time I suckered myself to get into Furry. I used the crap out of that phone, until a year and a half ago. It still works but I was generously given a Treo to use in place of the LG phone.

By now, I decided to step up with the big boys, by getting a fully functional smartphone with a data plan. The market has all sorts of choices and flavors, and each device has its own pros and cons. That's awesome, I love selection. However, some of the users behind these devices are pretty passionate and in some ways - smug about their little pocket friend.

If I pick one solution, I'm gonna get a whole slew of praises and bashings about my choice. If I go with an iPhone, some will praise, others will wonder what the hell I was thinking to pick such a solution. If I go with an Android based phone, it's no different. Or even throw a Blackberry into the mix!

Soon I'm gonna make a choice, and I know that I'm gonna deal with. I think I've done enough research and I realize what I might encounter. Remember, these are just phones that act as mini computers..and I find that to be awesome. To each their own..use the device that's appropriate for the application.

*sighs happily*

ZOMG an update

EP Wolf Marymouse
Hmm, so what has happened to me since I last updated my LJ?

The Move

About a couple of months ago, I moved into a bigger apartment unit. It’s still within the same complex, just a different unit. Now I have my own fursuit room, and a work table that occupies some of the space in there. It’s one of those things I’ve put off for a looooong time, until now. Thanks to coongt for picking it up for me! *hugs!*

So far I built one fursuit part on it..a pair of handpaws for Skroy. Sure did make the assembly experience a little more pleasant.

RCFM

Over the Memorial Day weekend, I traveled up to Huntsville, AL to attend the 2010 Rocket City Furmeet. Like every other RCFM in the past, it’s designated as a good relax-a-con. There isn’t much going on, but if you have a group of friends to hang out with, that IS the con! Luckily I had quite a few good friends who were at the con, and it sure was great to get time to meet up with all of them and chill, and catch up on life. I only took one picture during that whole weekend, since there isn’t much to take pics of! Sure there’s a fursuiter here and there, but heh I already have a crapload of pics of such critters. One thing I did at the con (which I was happy about) is that I got a lot more fursuiting time in..more than usual. I ran around as a silly Coyote (Flagstaff) and broke out the Skunk (Jazzy) once.

AC

For the record, I’m not attending AC this year. This will be the first Anthrocon that I missed since getting involved with the fandom. Why? The con is starting to feel a little “redundant”, and the atmosphere is awesome but a little too busy. I still have a great time at AC like always, but I figured that I should try out some other cons and visit friends on a one-on-one basis.

Megaplex

In place of AC, I am planning on attending MP this year. I’ve never been to this con before, so I don’t know what to expect XD I keep on hearing that it’s more of a relaxacon, but I’ll see. It will be another opportunity to hang out with some good friends ^^ So...who’s going???

Colorado

Last weekend I visited Colorado, and some of the furs out there. celanor hosted me, and we traveled around and went places XD The Rocky Mountains are beautiful! Well in fact, the state of Colorado is just beautiful in general! I wasn’t so used to the high altitude, as I felt a little more tired up at high elevations, but otherwise I was able to survive. I got to see tekfox , Dire, Xanie, Triggur, and a few other furs within the Fort Collins area. While hanging out with the guys, we went to some burger joint, and even a hookah bar. Thanks to everyone for making me feel welcomed ^^ I should come back sometime.

4th of July weekend

I don’t know what I’ll do this 4th of July weekend. It will be a 3-day weekend, so I’ll need to find something to do. I really don’t want to sit around and waste it lol..I’ve done that with other holidays and that’s never fun.

So there’s my life memory dump..I’ve been using Twitter a little more, but I still actively check LJ for all of the good stuff ;D
