The Application landscape

An IDP is positioned between the application and the infrastructure layer. In short, a typical business application is built on three main layers:

• Application Layer: Contains your business’s core logic and functionality, including workflows, forms, and calculations – essentially, what makes your app unique and valuable. We believe this is where you as a customer know the best how to build your value.
• Platform Layer: Manages how the app is set up, deployed, updated, and scaled. It oversees environment configuration, code management, and user access.
• Infrastructure Layer: Provides the technical foundation, such as networking, storage, and computing power – the “hardware” and cloud services that keep everything running.

Each layer has its role, and together they ensure your business application is reliable, scalable, and secure. We as EIDP can be the party that provides you both with the platform layer and a European Infrastructure layer, so you can focus on your applications.
