Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance at European Graduate School

Quality Assurance (QA) refers to the practices by which academic standards are maintained and improved. QA in higher education aims to develop a culture of quality within the institution so that the actions of its staff and students are inspired by a desire to continuously improve their practice, learning experience and outcomes.

Quality Assurance Manual

The EGS Quality Assurance Manual is the key document for the management of the EGS Quality System. This document provides a map of quality management and is deliberately structured in accordance with the External Quality Standards issued by the MFHEA. Full and continuous compliance with these eleven standards is a prerequisite for continued accreditation of EGS by the MFHEA.

Quality Assurance Strategy

The EGS Strategic Plan is based on a new institutional position achieved in 2024; its “pillars” identify the areas in which the EGS will consolidate and develop its new structure and activities. The objectives are not always listed in detail year by year after 2025; the precise goalposts are to be redefined and precisely defined in each year of the plan. These revisions and their implications for future development will be outlined in annual reviews to be appended to the plan by those responsible for the areas concerned. In this way, we aim to create a document that is concrete (not just a future projection based on ambition) and a trusted reference point for the EGS community and its stakeholders.
From the participatory process of the current planning cycle (2025–30), the EGS developed the following four pillars of the QA strategy:

* Organizational Effectiveness: Administrative Infrastructure and Financial Planning
* Academic Program Development: Curriculum, Faculty, Research
* The Student Experience
* Institutional Advocacy
