The EEA Chapters

The drive for establishing Chapters in the regions essentially comes from the need to realize EEA’s objectives through expanding its outreach services to potential members and stakeholders /clients/ of the Association.

EEA Regional Chapters

The Ethiopian Economics Association has established seven chapters across Ethiopia in collaboration with regional universities. These chapters serve as operational arms of the Association, extending EEA’s reach and impact throughout the country.

EEA has opened seven chapters at Hawassa, Bahir Dar, Haramaya, Dire Dawa, Mekelle, Jimma, and Jigjiga in collaboration with regional Universities.

Advantages of Stablishing Chapters

The opening of chapters in major regional capitals has a significant positive impact on the activities of EEA. These chapters serve multiple important functions:

Research & Training Focal Points

Chapters serve as focal points through which research and training needs of individual professionals as well as institutions relevant to EEA jurisdiction can be identified, articulated and acted upon.

Communication Channels

They serve as communication and information channels to reach out to economists in government, private and civil society institutions in the regions through the dissemination of EEA research results and publications.

University Collaboration

EEA can use chapters as launching pads for collaboration and cooperation with regional universities (economics departments in particular) in the areas of promoting and adding quality to the study of economics.

Diversified Membership

The opening of chapters adds value to EEA’s efforts in strengthening itself as a vibrant association with a larger and geographically diversified and inclusive membership base.
