Librarians facilitating Open Access to scholarly production and promoting dialogue between science and society.
EDUC-LIB is the network of librarians from the institutional members of EDUC. Under the overarching theme of building bridges between science and society, EDUC libraries join forces to facilitate knowledge sharing among researchers, especially young researchers, and aim to upskill library research support staff to enhance this effective sharing.
Recognising that libraries have a key role to play in changing the attitudes, knowledge and skills needed to ensure fruitful research support and student success, and to further develop the dialogue between science and society, EDUC-LIB is committed to the following points:
- support publicly funded research;
- open up research outputs and make them FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable);
- develop critical thinking;
- welcoming all, social role;
- cultural democratisation.
As a professional network, EDUC-LIB explores the benefits to each institution of sharing skills and competencies in open science and, more broadly, knowledge sharing. This includes :
- facilitating discussions and meetings between librarians;
- sharing good practice;
- strengthening our professional library network;
- upskilling our staff for the common benefit of the EDUC research, culture, teaching and learning communities.
