The EHE School and Community Read Arounds initiative was established by the College of Education and Human Ecology (EHE) at The Ohio State University as part of its broader commitment to fostering community engagement, and lifelong learning. This program was designed to bring together educators, students, families, and community members from across Central Ohio in a collaborative effort to promote literacy, inspire a love of reading, and build stronger connections between schools and communities.
Through a series of thoughtfully curated reading events held in local schools, libraries, and community centers, programming often features school district selected books, interactive storytelling, book giveaways, and discussions that help participants explore new perspectives and strengthen their literacy skills. Faculty and students from EHE partner with local educators to plan and lead these events, reinforcing the university’s role as a civic partner and educational leader in the region.
Ultimately, the EHE School and Community Read Arounds reflect a deep belief in the transformative power of literacy—not just as a tool for academic achievement, but as a catalyst for empowerment, connection, and social change within Central Ohio communities.
