EDEM 2019 is a Discrete Element Method (DEM) simulation tool for modeling and analyzing the behavior of bulk and granular materials such as ores, soils, powders, and grains. It enables engineers to simulate particle–equipment interactions, evaluate design alternatives, and predict performance for equipment like chutes, hoppers, conveyors, mixers, and earthmoving machinery. The software supports high‑performance computing (including GPU acceleration), a range of contact and material models, and co‑simulation with FEA, MBD, and CFD tools to capture coupled physics. Typical applications span mining, process and bulk handling, agriculture, and heavy equipment, helping reduce physical prototyping while improving throughput, reliability, and wear management. EDEM 2019 also provides material calibration workflows and advanced visualization/post‑processing to extract key metrics such as loads, flow patterns, segregation, and wear predictions.
