Certifications Overview
The CySEC offers three levels of certification, each designed to equip professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in the financial services industry.
Target Audience:
Entry to mid-level professionals at CIFs, AIFs, CASPs, and other regulated entities.
Target Audience:
Professionals in senior positions at CIFs, AIFs, CASPs, and other regulated entities.
Target Audience:
Professionals responsible for AML compliance within regulated entities.
What You Need to Know
Generally, there are no entry requirements
Exam Schedule:
Exams are held twice a week, every Tuesday and Thursday. Check the CySEC website for specific dates and availability.
Fees:
Review the examination fees for each certification level on the CySEC website. Ensure payment is completed as part of the booking process.
CySEC Certified Persons must complete a specified number of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) units annually to maintain their certification. CPD ensures professionals stay current with industry practices and regulatory updates.
- CySEC Basic: 10 units per year
- CySEC Advanced: 15 units per year
- CySEC AML Compliance: 10 units per year (must focus on AML-related topics)
For those holding multiple certifications:
- CySEC Advanced + AML Compliance: 20 units per year (o/w 10 units must focus on AML-related topics)
- CySEC Basic + AML Compliance: 15 units per year
Certified Persons must keep records of their CPD activities and renew their certification annually. Note that CPD requirements begin one year after certification. New CySEC exam candidates are exempt from CPD during their first year.
