Serena Psoroulas
Medical physicist and senior scientist University Hospital Zurich

I am a medical physicist and senior scientist from Switzerland. My core expertise is in beam delivery, applied to photon C-arm linacs and proton gantries. My research activities focus on clinical implementation of new radiobiological concepts in clinical practice, focusing on spatially fractionated radiotherapy and ultra-high dose rates treatments (FLASH irradiations). I love working alongside clinicians, biologists and technicians, and with them trying to test the limits of conventional concepts. I also have expertise in innovative treatments for motion mitigation and treatments of moving tumors with protons

Hospital do Meixoeiro, Pontevedra Hospital do Meixoeiro

She is a Medical Physics and Radiation Protection Expert in the Medical Physics department of Hygeia Hospital, Athens, Greece since 1993. Her professional focus is on quality assurance, dosimetry, radiation protection of radiotherapy units (external radiotherapy & brachytherapy), pediatric, stereotactic radiotherapy, radiosurgery treatments and patient safety. She is also active in the training of young Medical Physicists, Radiation Oncologists, Radiation Therapists, Nurses, Administrative staff. Her special interest is on Hospital Quality Management Systems, Oncology Information Systems, Radiotherapy Quality Audits and she is serving on multiple hospital quality committees since 1996. She recently became the Laser Safety Officer of the Hospital.

Currently, she is theTresurer of the Hellenic Association of Medical Physicists (HAMP), the HAMP-ESTRO liaison person and the HAMP delegate to EFOMP since 2014. She is member of the European School of Medical Physics Expert (ESMPE) board, the EFOMP Examination Board (EEB) and one of the editors of the EFOMP European Medical Physics News.

In 2019, she received the IOMP-IDMP award for promoting medical physics to a larger audience.

Facundo Ballester

Ha sido editor asociado de Medical Physics, Computational and Mathematical Methods in Medicine y The Open Biomedical Engineering Journal.

Hospital do Meixoeiro, Pontevedra Hospital do Meixoeiro
