A Platform for Collective Good
ECHO Northwest was developed by The Rhizome Collaborative, an agency dedicated to creating impactful content and technical solutions for socially responsible organizations, cultural institutions, and planet-friendly businesses. We’ve always believed that communication is more than just messaging—it’s about creating real impact. That belief is what inspired us to develop ECHO Northwest, an interagency digital communications library platform designed to serve the greater public good.
What Is ECHO Northwest?
ECHO Northwest stands for Engagement & Collaboration for Healthier Outcomes. It’s both a metaphor and a mission.
Like an echo—a repeated sound that travels, amplifies, and spreads—this platform is built to help important messages do the same: reverberate throughout our region via a network of trusted partners. ECHO Northwest is a shared digital library of public awareness materials, where government agencies, nonprofits, and coalitions can post, find, and share environmental health and safety messaging designed to inform, protect, and empower communities.
A Vision Rooted in Collaboration
The mission of ECHO Northwest is simple yet ambitious:
To create and maintain a digital library of shareable public awareness materials designed to inform and protect the health and safety of our communities and environment.
Our vision is to become a leading platform for interagency partnerships—working together to share data and resources while amplifying consistent and meaningful communications.
It’s not just about distributing information. It’s about doing so in a way that’s coordinated, unified, and equitable—so that people from all walks of life get the information they need, when they need it, in an approachable format.
“When multiple organizations align on shared messaging, the cost of creating high-quality public awareness materials can be distributed across partners—making it significantly more affordable for everyone involved. No single agency has to shoulder the entire burden. Instead, content creation becomes a shared investment, and the returns—wider reach, better engagement, and consistent messaging—benefit all.”
-Jen Pennington, Founder Creative Director, The Rhizome Collaborative
A Growing Platform
ECHO Northwest isn’t a business model. It’s a public service idea born from our work across sectors—watching agencies struggle to do more with less, knowing that great resources already exist, and realizing that what’s missing isn’t effort, it’s connection.
Our hope is that ECHO becomes a central hub for sharing communications that matter—from wildfire smoke alerts to toxin awareness, cancer prevention to community resilience. It’s a place for trusted voices to align and deliver messages that actually get heard.
We believe this is the right time, the right idea, and with the right partners, the right way to move forward.
If you’re interested in being part of this growing platform—or just curious to see how it works—we’d love to connect. Because together, we can do more than echo. We can resonate.
