Presentation Guidelines

General Structure of an Assessment

The presentation requirements for APIC/CHS/HELI assessments are listed below. 

  • The assignment is submitted in Microsoft Word format                                        

  • The assignment includes a signed Assessment Cover Sheet as the first page    
    with your name, student number and page number (see Cover Sheets Above)                                        

  • The assignment has 2.54cm margins on all sides                                                 

  • The assignment has double spacing throughout                                                  

  • The first line of every paragraph is indented by 1.27cm (use the tab key )                                     

  • Times New Roman font in size 12 point is used throughout                                 

  • Text is left aligned (not justified)                                                                              

  • In-text references and the reference list should follow the
    APA 7th referencing style                                                                                       

  • Reference list entries have a 1.27cm hanging indent  (use the tab key it's default setting is usually 1.27cm)                                            

Headings

Most reports and case studies include headings. Follow these guidelines for formatting headings.

  • The first level should be centered and in bold. Each main word should start with a capital letter.

First Level Heading

  • The second level should be left-aligned and in bold. Each main word should start with a capital letter.

Second Level Heading

  • The third level should be aligned left bold & italicised. Each main word should start with a capital letter.

Third Level Heading

  • Paragraphs should begin on a new line.

Assessment word count

  • Assessments have a specified word count.
  • You can go up to 10% over or under this count without a penalty.
  • Going more that 10% over or under may lower your grade.

In-text citations and quotations are counted towards the word count.

The Title page, table of contents, reference list, and appendices are excluded from the word count.
