Book Description
Macbeth is one of William Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies, likely written around 1606. It is a dark and powerful exploration of ambition, guilt, fate, and the corrupting influence of power.
The play follows Macbeth, a Scottish general who encounters three witches prophesying that he will become king. Spurred on by his ambitious wife, Lady Macbeth, he murders King Duncan to claim the throne. However, the act unleashes a spiral of paranoia, guilt, and further bloodshed.
Macbeth becomes a tyrant, killing anyone he perceives as a threat, including Banquo, his friend, and Macduff’s family. Lady Macbeth, tormented by guilt, descends into madness. Eventually, Macduff confronts and kills Macbeth, restoring order to Scotland.
