Book Description
Hamlet is one of William Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies, written around 1600–1601. It is a profound exploration of revenge, madness, mortality, and the complexity of human action.
The play follows Prince Hamlet of Denmark, who is deeply affected by the sudden death of his father, King Hamlet, and the hasty remarriage of his mother, Queen Gertrude, to his uncle Claudius, who has seized the throne.
When the ghost of King Hamlet appears, revealing that he was murdered by Claudius, Hamlet is compelled to seek revenge. Torn between action and hesitation, he feigns madness, contemplates life and death, and struggles with moral and philosophical dilemmas.
The plot spirals into betrayal, intrigue, and tragedy: Hamlet accidentally kills Polonius, driving Ophelia into madness; Claudius plots Hamlet’s death; and in the climactic duel, Hamlet, Laertes, Gertrude, and Claudius all die, leaving Fortinbras to claim the Danish throne.
