Hey! Guess what!
I know that there are people who are new to my journal (and me).
MWUAHAHAHA.
Welcome, folks.
So, here's the deal.
I (mostly) keep a public journal. Certain things are locked to f-groups because some people don't want to know about some stuff and some (but not most of my life) stuff I only want to talk about with certain people.
The biggest way this impacts those of you who are new? (srsly, if I put you on a "private-type" filter, that's up to me. Although if any of you are on a filter that lets you read posts that you'd rather not, feel free to let me know.)
I keep my sex-and-body-TMI stuff behind a filter, because I know there are some people who'd rather not know.
And I know that there are those of you who either don't care about knowing, or DO want to know. You silly live-vicariously-through-others'-lives. :3 I love you all.
If you want to be put on that filter, go ahead and comment. Comments are screened, so that nobody has to know that you want to see the dirty goings-on of my life. ;)
Fair warning, though. I have no shame on that filter, sometimes. And if you say anything negative on it, or out-loud judge me about what's on there, or are in any way bad to me about it, you'll be gone from me so fast that you won't know what hit you.

It is not our birthday in my timezone, but it is our birthday in
ashen_key's timezone!
Happy shared birthday, birthday twin!

My brain made Xmen fanfiction while I was dreaming so I'm writing down what I can remember.
Magneto (Sir Ian style) is sitting and reading or watching something about legislation that pertains to mutants and makes a frustrated comment about how if only the mutants had somebody in the Senate. Cut to Mystique, sitting there having a meal.
Erik makes another comment equating the senators to lips and mouths, and says something about if they could just get one mouth in the Senate. Cut to Mystique, who imagines taking the places of various senators (IE Kelley)
Then a bunch of stuff where Mystique thinks about how often she impersonates other people, for Erik. And very distinctly, the lines "She goes through a lot of red wine. She doesn't particularly like red wine, but it disappears when she's working because that is what happens when red wine is around -- people it to get drunk. She prefers the taste of vanilla in her mouth."
And then there was some quasi-political/snarky commentary about human-mutant relationships (for some reason they were discussing Hawkeye {apparently a human for my subconscious purposes?} "and his wife" who was a baseline idek okay and they had sort of an arrangement of sorts and were both pursuing a mutant male.)
Also my brain decided to imagine that Ashie had posted a link to Natasha/Steve.

So all the damn time I get OKC messages and like the first thing dudes do is tell me their real name.
And I think to myself, "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU. Did nobody ever teach you internet safety." It's like I'm still living in the late 90s.
Then again #dudeprivilege at work.

Internet, my household is embarking on a quest to put more food into our mouths that isn't pasta + red/white sauce + 1 meat. And I'm looking for stuff to make that I can have leftovers of.
HIT ME UP. Tell me your favourite cooked meal, or what you remember the most while growing up. Or whatever dish you feel like sharing, actually.

Obligatory year-end "Woo not dead yet" post!
I don't post as much anymore mostly because I feel like the things that happen to me aren't important enough to write about but eventually they all add up to the things that have happened to me in the past year.
I, um, work. That's basically what I've done for most of the year. In-between work I veg out, have managed to knit two big lace things, started DMing a D&D 3.5 campaign, talked a lot with friends, and even seen a couple movies. There was some pretty boring traveling to visit family here and there. And I shaved my hair into a mohawk.
Even if I don't update, I still regularly check LJ to read what other people write about. I'm a reader, it's what I do!

No idea if anyone is interested, but I am participating! Meme time.
Pick a character I've written and I will give and explain the top five ideas/concepts/etc I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to accurately depicting them.

Things that I give myself a pat on the back for: not tearing out my in-law's throat with my teeth and howling my victory over her bloody corpse when she compared gay marriage to somebody wanting to marry their house and disdained the phrase "marriage equality."
Life update time!
Home/personal: We're gonna start a D&D campaign on Sunday, and I'm the DM! First time DMing. Also it's the first time Will's ever tabletopped. And it'll be my girl's first time coming back to tabletop after a bad experience she had in high school. So! This'll be good. I think. I hope. I am pretty sure.
There's a new/returned-that-I-didn't-know-before gal at work that is super duper awesome (also so is her boyfriend. He's been showing up to help with some stuff around the place) and they are very cool. New friend get!
I tried to get people to come over on Halloween and/or the Saturday before to watch monster movies but they were all losers and bugged out on me/got sick/etc so whatever. That's why I don't invite people over often anyway (except for my girl but she comes over so often she can just come in the house and show up whenever she feels like it so that's different).
Work: See above. Also, I feel like superwoman right now because starting Saturday I have been doing all of the physical things and even though I am tired and sore I keep going. So. Superwoman. .... Also I kind of maybe sort of might have done some free-space work in a harness and riding up a block and tackle. *cough* Multiple times.
Knitting/craft: I have some knitting stuff. There's a horse pattern that I was trying to make into a zebra for Jakey's birthday that I basically gave up on because it's a horribly-written pattern and I hate it. So instead I started my first sock! :D? And now I finally have the beads I wanted to go with my lace so as soon as I have more time than one hour a day I'm going to print out my lace patterns and figure out where to put the beads and get started with that. I have two shawls in mind. They are gonna be so pretty!
And that is kinda my stuff right now.

Can't handle religious apologists today. Especially when they defend genocide, slavery, and rape.
Can't do it.
Time to think happy thoughts about yarn and beads and the tabletop campaign I'm gonna DM! Time for plotting and lace. The two go together well.

If you are into the whole cooking thing you can make your own curry powder with a blend of turmeric, coriander, fenugreek, cumin, and red pepper;…
Meat! Get some. Say a pound of pork/beef/chicken. Also your choice of vegetables. I like green peppers and/or pea pods. Carrots would also be good. Whatever.
Throw the meat in a skillet…
