It's been quite a while since I last updated this journal. New things: -Last Monday I found out that the job I've been hanging around for since October is not being rolled out to the rest of the country. The results of the trial were good, but apparently didn't translate into dollars saved/earned enough to justify paying people across the nation the wage it would call for. So that made last week Utter Balls. -As a result of the above, I got extremely drunk Saturday night. -My centre manager has promised to look into jobs elsewhere in the business unit. Ie. Project Manager, Product Implementer, Product Specialist. These would all be good things, however at this point I trust her promises about as far as I can throw a yak. This is not far. So chasing will be in order. -Putting out feelers to my various acquaintances around the nation to let me know when jobs that are worth the trouble are coming up. -Very unmotivated about my job, and still outperforming entire teams of people on a daily basis. -Bah. Humbug. -Updating my resume right now. -If anyone knows about decent jobs coming up, let me know eh? In unrelated news, tonight was awesome. I'm sure I'll pay for it in the morning ;) |

Alive
Today I have the day off. Unfortunately it's only so that I can head out to the farm at some point this afternoon for my grandfathers 80th. My main objection being travelling two hours out of Brisbane and being completely cut off from any kind of communications device other than landlines. Oh yeah and there isn't one of those in my parents house up there. Sigh. I think everyone is staying Saturday night and going back Sunday but I'll be damned if I'm staying past lunchtime on Saturday. I have conveniently neglected to register for postal voting in tomorrow council elections however, so I can probably use that as leverage on my parents to at least get a lift to Beerwah and catch the train back Saturday. Not sure what the plan is for the rest of the weekend yet. There's a few gigs on Saturday night that I'm thinking of checking out. Hmm. Current Mood:  thoughtful |

Mmm..day off tomorrow. So far I have lunch planned, a brief Lincraft mission, and later on visiting a few more pubs followed by supporting single mothers. 10001110101 Tonight was good. So, usually I work 9 day fortnights at work. For some reason though, I had last Wednesday off, I have this Friday off, then I have next Wednesday and the following Friday. Then I have a week of annual leave. Basically, I'm not working a full week of work until February. Kick arse. I'm pretty sure they've stuffed up the roster somehow, but I'm just going to keep my mouth shut I think. In other news I wish this damn humidity would fuck right off. It's not so bad when it's actually raining, but the rest of the time it is annoying the hell out of me. Anyone else seen anything about this movie Cloverfield? It looks pretty damn good. That was lucky. I just noticed a calendar appointment for my sisters birthday (this saturday) which was going to set off a reminder alarm at 4:15am. In the event details it says only "ha ha". .. Sneaky bitch. Now I have to think up some way to annoy the fuck out of her in return. Which is difficult given she's in South Africa right now, not getting back til the day before my birthday. Ah well. Work has been reasonable so far this week. I'm looking ahead to taking time off though (of course). Last day at work is xmas eve, then no work til the 7th of Jan. I plan to spend most of the next two working weeks slacking off wherever possible. And otherwise, life is pretty good! Current Mood: tired |

Oktoberfest at Musgrave park tomorrow!When I sent out the morning email to the team today I told them I'd be going to drink beer at lunchtime Friday and not returning. Which generated a chorus of "awww!" Suckers! So yeah, that's the plan. It opens at 2pm so I think I'm meeting Stew and others at about 1pm and heading over there after one or two pre-beer beers. Should be a good (though likely expensive afternoon and evening ;) Mmm pig knuckles. This week has gone by quite quickly, which I attribute to being extremely busy what with trying to finish up the various tasks I still have in hand whilst also doing management stuff. Heh so the only things I actually got done from my list of things to do yesterday were clean the kitchen and drink beer. But that's ok. I'll just write up the letter of application once I get to work. And not really sure what to do with my study aside from moving out a basket of laundry. Huzzah last day of work for the week! Tomorrow morning flying down to sMelbourne at 11:05, and not coming back til Monday night. Woot! Time to blow cash in a frivolous manner! Tuesday I get back to work to a new desk (team is moving floors over the weekend) and 4 newbies to train. I'm hoping the long weekend + retail therapy + misc madness will reduce the severe case of crankiness I've been having at work all week. Time will tell! Now I just need to pack everything and then attempt to be calm from now until we board the plane. As normally my brain just about explodes from stress when trying to make a flight, despite the fact that I have never, ever, missed one. In other news, mmm ginger beer. Current Mood: optimistic |

Update!!
So, as it's been nearly a month since last update..what's been happening? -Still in the same job. -Have a new haircut. -Melbourne weekend after the one coming. -I rock at Guitar Hero now. ROCK.Umm...not much else, sadly. People at work today were giving the shits in a very very hardcore manner. This is not really all that new of itself, but the level of "WTF?" they were delivering was ridiculous today. I mean really, when the answer to your question is "No, that's not correct." how many times do you need to ask variations on the same question for my answer to sink in? It's not like there's some other authority to refer to, I fucking designed the process and the goddamn scripts that make 90% of the work happen. *teethgrind* Anyway...bedtime, I suppose. Interwebs are go at the new house at last, woo! I don't know how we'll get by on only 150gigs a month though. OH NOES. In other news..interviewed for the business analyst job last Tuesday, did not get it. Suspect that in typical Telstra fashion they had already picked someone and were just interviewing for the appearance of following process. So, back to looking around again. Bah!
