Connecting Retirees • Supporting Students

Rooted in the spirit of Diablo Valley College, the DVC Retirees Association connects a vibrant community of retired faculty, staff, and administrators dedicated to lifelong learning, mentorship, and unwavering support for our students. Through fellowship, advocacy, and scholarship-building, we empower current and former DVC members to continue transforming lives—inside and beyond the classroom.

Spring 2026 Luncheon — Save the Date (Apr 17th)

Please mark your calendars for our Spring 2026 DVCRA Luncheon, taking place on
Friday, April 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Diablo Room. ($25 per meal)

Join us for a thoughtfully prepared luncheon inspired by classic European flavors and seasonal ingredients. Guests will enjoy a choice of tender chicken breast, fresh salmon, or tofu, finished with a silky beurre blanc sauce. The meal will be complemented by a savory rice pilaf, colorful ratatouille, and a fresh seasonal salad, along with warm bread and butter.

To finish on a bright note, indulge in a house-made lemon meringue tart with a gluten-free crust. An elegant, satisfying midday meal designed to bring people together—perfect for lingering conversation and community connection.

After the wonderful turnout and camaraderie of our Fall 2025 Luncheon, we’re looking forward to gathering once again!

📚 Lit Week Announcement — Schedule Finalized & Featured Reader

We’re happy to share that the Lit Week schedule, reader lineup, and event locations have now been finalized — and we’re excited about what’s ahead this semester!

✨ Featured Reader

We are especially pleased to welcome Susanna Kwan, an artist and writer from San Francisco, who will be joining us on Tuesday, April 21.

Her debut novel, Awake in the Floating City, has received significant national recognition, including:

  • Winner of the Asian Pacific American Award for Literature
  • Finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award
  • Longlisted for the Climate Fiction Prize, PEN Open Book Award, and The Center for Fiction First Novel Prize

This will be a wonderful opportunity for our college community — including our retirees — to connect with contemporary literature and continue the long DVC tradition of supporting the arts and student voices.
