FAQs
How long does it take to get an Employment Pass (EP) approved in Singapore?
Most EP applications are processed within 10 business days, but it can take up to 8 weeks for more complex cases, such as EP (Sponsorship) or incomplete documentation.
That said, MOM are great at turning applications around quickly – most get an answer ahead of that timeframe.
Can Dependant’s Pass holders work in Singapore?
Yes, absolutely – dependents just need a letter of consent from MOM. The types of things DP holders can do depends on the sponsor’s pass type…
EP holders’ dependents can apply for a letter of consent to run their own business (either a sole prop or a Pte Ltd where they own at least 30% and are a director). Dependents of ONE Pass holders can run their own business but also work in a normal job as an employee, too.
Can I apply for an EP if I run my own company?
Yes, you can absolutely hire yourself as the company’s first employee – the key here will be meeting the qualification criteria that MOM outline, and you may have to provide evidence that the company can afford to hire you as an employee.
We’ll help giude you through all that, including types of evidence typically accepted.
4. When should I renew my visa or pass?
Renewal applications can be submitted up to 6 months before expiry. We recommend applying at least 1 month in advance to avoid any disruption to your legal stay or work authorization – earlier is better, and you don’t lose out if you apply early!
