About

Digital Druid is a one-person consultancy – founded by me, Iwan Rhys Roberts – helping small businesses and community organisations make sense of the digital world.

Technology should support people, not overwhelm them. My role is to guide, simplify, and make it work for you.

Mission

To bring connection and culture to the heart of digital – guiding SME’s and organisations to use technology in ways that honour their language, community, and sense of place.

Vision

Digital that feels grounded – helping rural and community-based businesses share their stories, strengthen local ties, and keep culture and creativity at the centre of how they work.

I’ve always been drawn more to people, culture, and community than to technology itself – but I’ve also got the kind of brain that loves solving problems and figuring out how things work. That mix of patience, curiosity, and creativity is what led me here.

Before starting Digital Druid, I worked in operations management, helping teams improve systems and work smarter. During lockdown, I finally took the time to learn how to code – not just to understand technology, but to be able to build and fix things myself when needed.

What began as curiosity became Derw Digital, and over time evolved into Digital Druid: a consultancy that blends strategy, creativity, and hands-on technical know-how with a grounded understanding of how small organisations actually work day to day.

These days, I help community groups, small businesses, and rural enterprises across Scotland and Wales make digital simple, human, and effective – from planning strategies and managing projects to building websites and solving technical headaches. I care most about making technology work for people, not the other way around.

The name is a nod to the balance between technology and tradition.

It’s about using modern tools with wisdom – rooted in local culture and values, not detached from them.

It’s also a reminder that digital doesn’t need to be impersonal or corporate; it can be craft-based, community-driven, and human.

It’s just me – and Nola, my four-legged co-worker and constant companion.

If we’re meeting face-to-face in Oban, you’ll usually find us at The Rockfield Centre, where I work from every Thursday. I also travel to clients across the Oban area – and further afield if the project’s right.

While Digital Druid is a one-person consultancy, I’m far from working alone. I collaborate regularly with a trusted network of freelancers, designers, and developers who share the same values of quality, honesty, and community.

For design-led or larger projects, I work closely with Norsto – the creative studio I co-founded – bringing together strategy, storytelling, and high-quality design when projects call for a bigger team.
