Homeopathy is a 200-year-old system of remedies based on the principle that like cures like. The founder of homeopathy, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician, experimented with various minerals and herbs to discover what symptoms they produced when consumed. He treated particular illnesses and conditions successfully with highly dilute solutions of these minerals and herbs. He did so by matching the symptoms of an illness to those produced by a particular mineral or herb (when not in the dilute form he used for treatment). These gentle treatments based on like curing like elicited a healing response in the bodies of his patients

In the 200 years since Dr. Samuel Hahnemann invented homeopathy there has never been a single documented injury or death from the use of properly formulated homeopathic remedies. Because they are so dilute, homeopathic remedies are inherently safe and side effects are exceedingly rare.

Homeopathic remedies are not fully potent or preserved effectively without alcohol as it holds the frequencies stable.

Using homeopathics with glycerin instead of alcohol may have side-effects. Glycerol is POSSIBLY SAFE when taken by mouth, short-term. However, Glycerol can cause side effects including headaches, dizziness, bloating, nausea, vomiting, thirst, and diarrhea. There is a homeopathic remedy for glycerol to get it out of the body as it is toxic.

According to the Homeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States, all non-alcoholic homeopathic solutions are potentially subject to microbial contamination and decomposition and must be prepared with a suitable preservative system; any preservative system must comply with USP standards for antimicrobial effectiveness. If a product substitutes glycerin instead of alcohol, the glycerin would have to be at least 50% of the formula in order to have the appropriate preservative system.

Furthermore, using alcohol is the best way to preserve and keep the frequencies stable. With that said, the alcohol content must not be less than 20% v/v for any liquid attenuation, unless prepared with a suitable preservative system. Since glycerin is a humectant, it draws moisture into the product, so yep it does require a preservative when using it.

Non-alcoholic solutions should be used immediately to insure efficacy. All non-alcoholic solutions that are potentially subject to microbial contamination must be prepared with a suitable preservative system; any preservative system must comply with USP standards for antimicrobial effectiveness. Preservatives or stabilizers, if used, must be added only after the final attenuation, and must be declared on the label. Alternatively, nonalcoholic solutions may be immediately processed into higher attenuations for medicating purposes, using dispensing alcohol as the diluent for the final two decimal attenuations or final centesimal attenuation.
