It was on Disney's XD Channel tonight, and airing weekly on Thursdays, 8pm.
An animated sequel between
Tron and
Tron: Legacy movies, the focus is placed upon a new character, Beck, who dons the mantle of 'hero' and makes his new way as the new Tron.
I watched the last 5-10 minutes of Ep01 (Beck's Beginning), and all of Ep02 + Ep03 (The Renegade, Part I and II).
The cast is quite full of stars: Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore (Rapunzel from
Tangled), Tricia Helfer (Six from
BSG, Lance Reddick (from
Fringe and
LOST) and Bruce Boxleitner reprising his role as the original Tron.
Visually it's gorgeous. The environments just gets you in THE MOOD. Not so fond of the character designs, but I do recognize it's inspired by Peter Chung (Aeon Flux) and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Characters have short torsos and elongated legs. The outfits I rather like, it's the faces themselves I'm not partial to. (eg. Perl) Still, it's damn pretty!
The music is awesome. (Daft Punk and Joseph Trapanese)
The animation is good-okay. I spotted recycled animation here and there, and sometimes the characters move rather choppy. Fight sequences look fluid whether hand-to-hand or on cycles. (I love the cycles. I love the bikes!)
I'm looking forward to the next episode. :D
