Division of Professional Regulation

Boards & Commissions

General Information

The primary objective of the Delaware professional licensing boards and commissions is to protect the general public from unsafe practices including those which tend to reduce competition or fix prices. The boards/commissions also maintain standards of professional competence and service delivery. To meet these objectives, each board/commission

  • develops standards for professional competency
  • promulgates rules and regulations
  • adjudicates complaints and, when necessary, imposes disciplinary sanctions
  • issues licenses or permits in the professions assigned to it.

The 37 professional licensing boards/commissions are comprised of Governor-appointed public and professional members.  Some boards/commissions are assigned more than one profession.  Not every profession has a board/commission.
