NINES Launch Deck by Barry Ritson

What Is NINES?

A New 9v9 Platform from the DPL

NINES is a 9v9 competition platform created by the DPL to support the next stage of player development. Built for female athletes, the platform gives players more touches, more decisions, more movement, and more meaningful competition within a game model designed for growth.

Fast. Fearless. Fluid.

A NEW GAME FORMAT

NINES is built around the needs of the modern female player. It creates a competitive environment that rewards confidence, creativity, movement, and leadership while giving clubs a structured platform to support younger player development. Every NINES game will feature 3 x 20 minute periods with a 5 minute break between periods.

PLAYING TIME PROVISION

#ALLAboutHER

At the heart of NINES is a player-first Playing Time Provision designed to give every athlete a real opportunity to grow, compete, and impact the game.

Each eligible rostered player must play one full, continuous 20-minute period in every match, giving her the time to settle into the rhythm, make decisions, build confidence, and contribute meaningfully to her team. This structure supports the NINES vision of a faster, more fearless, and more fluid game, where development is not just promised, it is built directly into the format.

WHO IS IT FOR?

A Dynamic Entry Point into the DPL Pathway

NINES is an independent open 9v9 league platform available to clubs from any league or competition environment.

Clubs do not need to be current DPL members to enter teams into NINES. The platform is designed to give clubs a flexible, high-quality competition option for younger teams as they prepare for the transition into 11v11 soccer.

Clubs may apply to place one or multiple teams into the NINES League, creating a structured development bridge for players, teams, and clubs. While NINES connects naturally to the broader DPL pathway, it remains an open system built to serve the wider girls’ soccer landscape.
