Synod on Synodality
The Synod on Synodality is a multi-year process of listening and dialogue which began in October 2021 with solemn opening liturgies around the world. Reports from the diocesan phase of listening sessions contributed to the global synod meetings. All are encouraged to be part of this process.
The March of the Eucharist Continues
In 1951, the first Bishop of Youngstown, James McFadden, compiled a book titled The March of the Eucharist. Today, the bishops of the United States have called every diocese to join in a Eucharistic Revival. In the Diocese of Youngstown, we are looking to our early days with the theme The March of the Eucharist Continues.
Cause for Rhoda Wise’s Canonization
Canton native Rhoda Wise is being investigated for potential sainthood. The Diocese of Youngstown Tribunal has compiled testimony of her life of heroic virtue, which has been received by the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints. She is currently considered a Servant of God.
Testify to the Light
Bishop Bonnar’s first pastoral letter invited us to acknowledge the darkness of the time, challenged us to reclaim the light of our sacramental life, and offered five priorities for our journey into the future together.
Practicing Faith, Hope, and Love
Bishop Bonnar’s second pastoral letter focused on living the virtues together in tough times. Faith, hope, and love are presented as the answer to our present moment, and the path through our challenges and grief.
Archives Museum
Historical artifacts, documents, and artwork are lovingly preserved by our Diocesan Archives to tell our story of Catholic faith in the Diocese of Youngstown. The former site of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Church in Youngstown will soon house these collections.
